Mild to moderate, stupid rant! Mood
Monday, November 2, 2009

Good Monday morning friends!

I'm still in a rather nasty crash here. Day four in bed! I had such a nice "up time" I almost forgot how sick I can get. Anyway, I'm dealing with it ok. I'm ticked off actually! That's a truckload better than being scared like I used to be.

As the poo fairy would have it, our town is doing street construction on the street right smack behind us. They start at SEVEN in the morning! My alarm usually goes off at eight. They started last Thursday, so I've been losing about an hour to an hour and a half of sleep each day. They are laying gas pipes down. Bobby says it's a long term project. I can't tell you how upsetting it is to be woken by what sounds like thunder behind me in the dark of the morning. I thought there were laws about things like this! To top that off (I think I'm ranting here, but I need too, I'm so tired)....they continue this digging and banging and back hoe crashing all day, leaving me no option to return to bed. The noise is horrendous. I think I'm just so sleep deprived, I'm getting cranky. Really cranky.

I'm thinking about calling the town hall to check on the hours these guys are supposed to start working in the morning. Apparently at seven a.m. I'm in quite a deep sleep. I wake up to these horrible loud banging sounds and it frightens me. I would bet that they aren't supposed to start till eight!  I need to go back to bed now, and can't. UGH>>>>>>YES>>>>>>THIS IS A RANT! I need to sleep!

I feel groggy and headachy and just plain miserable this morning. I think maybe I can go to the third floor of the house with a loud, loud fan, which might drown out some of the racket and maybe I can rest!

I shall try! And I will try not to complain about this anymore. Those of us who need sleep in order to get up and move without being fall down dizzy can relate to what I'm saying.

I'm done now.

Sorry, I don't ususally sound so aggravated. But today I am!

Chocolate might help......maybe I should scout around the house a bit......a Dove moment might help improve my mood.......the whole town isn't gonna shut down so I can sleep.......this is life......poo on construction people! Poo, I say!   Frown

We had jackhammers for a few days in mid-October too. Also gas line, from a different supplier than ours thankfully.

    Very annoying.

Yep, sleep is important. And the kind of noise they're creating is really jarring to our already overactive nervous system.

That's why I have the TV on, with shows I've seen a million times already. They have a 'rhythm', and it helps me not hear the other stuff.

And, I use the commercial periods as a timer, since they come about every 10-15 minutes. It works pretty well.

I hope other than crash, you're doing 'ok'.

OH how horrible Darla. I would feel the same if I couldnt get enough sleep, I think you should check out the nuisance laws and see what time they are allowed to start. over here its 8am, yes it is a beautiful day here, the only sound I can hear, now the birds are quiet is sawing of wood, and some sort of scaffolding noise - a house in the next road is having an extension built.. but they dont start until 10.

Too bad, Darla. There's no shortage of municipal workers disturbing the peace in my city, either. The college is one street away, and they are constantly constructing dorms, or parking garages, etc. Maddening!

Oh Darla! It's not fair to feel like "poo" AND have noisy construction going on! I don't blame you one darn bit, it's annoying! Yes, they start at 7 am here too. A street just one short block away from mine has been under construction since spring (laying some pipe things too), in addition to the noise, the dirt was flying all over and everything was coated in black dirt, and of course there were the detours. I think that they might open the street back up this week! Whew, I can't wait! It will be good when your street is done. Much love and many hugs!

Oh darla, I'm sorry you are feeling so icky and then the construction is so loud. Right now I am listening to a jack hammer outside...there always seems to be instruction around my house! Anyways I hope you can get some rest!

We bought us a "Wind Fan" a while back, because when the kids are down, and I have to rest, I can't HEAR THEMMMMMM!! LOL
BUT, it works. I think we bought it at Hellmart....ugh, I am sure we OWN MOST of that store.

So sorry about your crash. I'm feeling the same thing coming. This Fibro starts

Just spreads out from there and the thing is.....we NEVER know how long it will last!!!!!!
I wish you so much healing!
The best thing for us is our wonderful hubby's. :O) Don't know HOW I would survive w/out mine.

City workers generally don't know, can't tell time LOL. Try to go to bed couple hours earlier? Maybe not. Put on earphones with soothing music. Just stuff my mom does. Cranky is good, get it out of your system. Poo poo the poo fairy. hugs

The construction has to happen but consideration should also be in there. Phone about the start time and the end time. I bet they are not supose to start until eight but are trying to get it done before weather causes problems.

I am so sorry Darla! Where I live it is Crop Dusters!!! (You have probably read a previous rant. Not only are they spraying starting around 8:00 when hubby has just made racket getting out the door and I am just settling into that GOOD sleep again but they are also spraying chemicals that cause me sinus problems, headaches etc... so I cut the FAN on Way Loud, crank my Sound machine up and
aim for that extra rest..... Hope you get yours! We need it so much. Want me to send the crop dusters over your municipal workers , probably wouldn't stop the noise (progress) but it would probably send them home sick and take a little while to replace them. (Sorry for the wicked idea, as you can see, when they buzz overhead, I kinda bunch them all together LOL)

  12. julesd

Derr!!!!!!! that sounds like horrid noise....maybe earmuffs would help and keep your ears warm.....sending you love and good rest thiughts....yep we need that sleep...the best we can get luvvles xxxxx

There are laws, not suppose to start that till the work day starts which isnt till 8 am, depending on where you live. I would call your city hall and ask, because when we had our own business my hubby would be out there before the sun and some one called the city and they came down and said the law is cant do loud noise type of work till after 8 am. so I would check it out, how you doing other wise dear? I hope all is well. love and prayers. Pamela

This has happened to me too. I did call the town and asked what time. you should do that Darla. Maybe trying to go to bed an hour earlier?? I know that stinks but anything to get some sleep. Hang in there KID! Love to you. It stinks being in a crash.

I SO understand what you're going through and it STINKS!! We live across from the place where the city dump trucks and large trucks dump the sand, wood chips etc., they're always working over there! I have a huge HEPA filter in my room, must be as loud or louder than a fan, and it helps a TON! Do try the fans for noise! Hopefully it'll drown it out!! Ear plugs too! Works like a charm!!

Sleep is just way too important for us to lose, we get sicker when stuff like this happens and we can't get the sleep we need! I feel so bad for you, crashing badly and not getting your sleep! The stress of it all doesn't help either! Poor you!!

You go ahead and RANT AWAY any time you want or need to my friend!! That's what we're here for...look how many nice responses you've gotten on your journal and it was a rant!! You GO girl!! You don't have to feel that you need to be happy/positive all the time, you're human!! Crab away, i'll listen every time! :-)

I think lots of chocolate will help too, hope you can have many Dove moments!

Love you sweety! Hope the fans work!! MWAH

Around here, the noise laws are from midnight to 6AM. The noisy planes stop landing at 11:55PM, and start taking off at 6:05AM. Since we live near the airport, I know these things! LOL! Try a fan, ear plugs, earbuds with soothing music, or if you can find them, noise-canceling headphones. Hubby has noise-canceling headphones for flying, and they work wonders! They can be expensive, but if this is a long-term project, it might be worth the cost. In the meantime, enjoy your chocolate! *HUGS*
