    • About Me

I am the mother of a 2 yr old and a 5yr old girls. My 5yr old is diagnosed adhd and "mood disorder" (which is basically bipolar) and also suffers from acid indigestion (or maybe something else, we're still working with the GI). My 2yr old is on her way to being like her sister, but they won't diagnose or treat until she is at least 3.

      From ak17 April 11, 2008

May God bless you and your baby in this time of trial. Here are some encouraging healing bible verses to uplift you. Remember, faith moves mountains and you can get through anything in the name of Jesus. John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Exodus 23:25 And ye shall serve the LORD your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee. Psalms 6:2 Have mercy upon me, O LORD; for I am weak: O LORD, heal me; for my bones are vexed. Psalm 103:3-4 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies. Isaiah 53:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. Matthew 4:23 And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people. Jeremiah 17:14 Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved: for thou art my praise. Matthew 8:14-17 And when Jesus was come into Peter's house, he saw his wife's mother laid, and sick of a fever. And he touched her hand, and the fever left her: and she arose, and ministered unto them. When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick: That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.

    • Close Depression

I have suffered from depression since I was probably about 5yrs old. In the past few years I finally sought help. Never "really" been diagnosed except while pregnant. But I get highs and get really low lows. Have tried suicide in the past, but I'm way past that thankfully.

      Treatments

      Keeping Busy Somewhat Helpful
I keep so busy that I don't have time to sit and be depressed.
      Positive Thinking Somewhat Helpful
Support from Friends & Family Somewhat Helpful
It helps to know that other people care. They ask how I'm doing and it helps me remember that I'm loved. Also helps to have people who suffer the same problems.
      Zoloft Working / Worked
works when I remember to take it. :/
      Yoga Working / Worked
Yoga helps with the physical pain of depression. It also helps clean out the bad thoughts that creep in my head. And its good for you!
    • Close Food Allergies
      Type of allergy: Other Foods

allergic to melons (all) and nuts (except peanuts ironically). I also have many other food allergies that I have been told are only "oral allergies", but I still avoid those foods because its just not worth it!

      Treatments

      Allergy Shots Working / Worked
Allergy shots were helping a lot. But it's too far and too often for me to drive with two kids in tow. plus I can't take the kids with me, so i have to find a sitter usually. but it was great while it lasted and will try again later hopefully.
Avoid Certain Foods / Chemicals Working / Worked
it sucks. i like all the foods i'm allergic to, but what r you gonna do?
      EpiPen Too Soon to Tell
I have it for emergencies, but thankfully havent had to use it.
      Lactaid Working / Worked
I use Lactaid pills when I eat anything heavy in dairy (like ice cream). It helps a little, but the lactose isn't my big problem, its the milk protein. So until theres a pill for that, I guess I just hang in there.
    • Open Parents of Children with ADHD

I have a 5yr old girl with ADHD. I'm looking for support and just people who understand that I can talk with.

      Treatments

      Adderall Somewhat Helpful
Worked for a little bit. But my daughter metabolizes medication too fast and we burned through this dosages in less than 6 months.
      Nicotine Gum Working / Worked
This is what we tried after Adderall XR. It is doing ok for now. We are on a high dose though. 54mg? for my 36lb child. We have been using this for 23months and its ok right now. may change back to Adderall XR if were not happy with this.
    • Open Bipolar Disorder

I am the parent of a bipolar child. Actually we havent seen a psychiatrist for an actual "diagnosis" but have been diagnosed "mood disoder". She is only 5, but without the bipolar meds she is on, would not be doing well.

      Treatments

      Depakote Working / Worked
so far so good. this was added to risperdal and have used for 2-3months. so far it is helping her keep it under control.
      Risperdal Working / Worked
on a high dose (for her size and age). it is working a little, but needed something extra to help it out. we were still having major meltdowns.
