Journal Entry for June 20, 2008 Mood

Hello friends!

Again, I haven't posted in a while, and thought I'd give you all an update.  My new titanium knees are doing a super job, and I am pretty much back to normal, if not better.  I can climb stairs much more normally and pain free now.  Most all of the pain and aching that I experienced after the surgery is gone.  For the first time since the surgery, my knees are not the focal point of my day!

I did outpatient rehab twice a week for a month, and some home exercises, (not too good at doing the home ones), and it helped a lot.  I am much stronger and can bend and straighten the knees as much as they are supposed to bend and straighten.  A check up yesterday with the ortho surgeon proved that all is well.  He said to see him again in a year.  Again, for me, having them both done at the same time worked out very well, and I was lucky enough not to have some of the problems that have affected others after their surgeries.

Now, my yearly checks for cancer.......I have my mammo coming up, and I am always nervous about it.  I also have to have a CT of my abdomen, to check on the status of the mass on my kidney.  Again I worry.......but all has been fine in the past, and I am hoping that my good fortune will continue!  I have been blessed!

Thank you all for your continued support and messages.  I will try to be more available to all of you.  Hugs to you all!

Donna, so glad you are back on your feet again and not having that terrible pain. May I ask how big that mass is on your kidney? My kidney was the size of a baseball and had to make an extra incision because of that problem. Don't be nervous about your mammo. They have now a new system whereas they can see right away for anything - I can't name it, but it is more advanced and in depth. Hurray for you and I know you have been blessed!!!

I am so glad things are going well for you. Sounds like the new knee is great...I know not having to deal with the pain is very liberating...Keep up the good work....

Hello friends,

It's been a while since I've posted or even visited this site.  I did have my surgery on March 28.....both knees replaced because of severe arthritis.  The surgery went very well, and, yes, I would do it the same way (both at onece), if I had to do it over again.

I spent two days in the hospital, and was walking on day two.  Then transferred to a rehab facility for about two and one half weeks.  Now have been home for a week.  I am very, very weak.  I know that I became anemic after surgery, and had to be transfused...and so maybe still am a bit anemic.  But am getting stronger every day.  God has been with me thoughout the entire ordeal, and I praise Him for that!!!

I will write more when I can tolerate being at the computer for any length of time...just know how special you all are to me!!!!

Hugs, prayers, warm thoughts, and love to you all!!!

Thank you all so much for the support you've shown me just in the last day or so!  I have missed all of you very much, and will try to stay more in touch!

Nothing much going on here today......dark and dreary....just about at the freezing point.  We've had some rain in the past few days, so a lot of the snow has melted.

Well, got to get some errands done today.  Take care, all, and  thank you again!!!
