So, its now week 2 after Chemo 1. I feel ok but this is the week that my immune system gets wiped out, so I am not feeling 100%....this is to be expected!
I had to go to my GP yesterday to give a urine sample and get bloods taken. I had noticeable blood in my urine so we think it may be a bladder infection. I have a little pain but nothing too bad.
This morning I woke up and felt exhausted, wiped out and had a bit of a sore throat, so I have not gone into work today. Monday and Tuesday are Public holidays here in NI, so this will give me time to recover and go back to work on Wednesday.
The nurses on the 24hr helpline in my Oncology department are fantastic, I really cant praise them enough. I had to ring them on Sunday as I was having trouble getting my heparin injections from a chemist, I had tried 4 different ones. I had rang the oncall GP....his suggestion was to go to casualty to get the injections done, WHAT?? Fecking useless ass!!! Oncology were able to source them for me from a duty chemist in the next town. I then had to ring them on Wednesday regarding the blood in urine. They spoke to a doctor and came back to me quickly to tell me to go to GP...and also to reassure me. They rang me yesterday to check I was ok and they will be ringing me again today. Its a great comfort to know that someone is on the other end of the phone when I need them, especially as I live alone.
So, Im ok folks, feeling under par is only to be expected, hell, I think I have been very lucky....so far!!
I hope everyone is well and looking forward to the weekend.
Hugs
