I have only been here a few days and already received so much love and care. It helps make my heart sing. This in turn …
Well I met the Colo-rectal specialist this afternoon, he's very nice and my gp speaks very highly of him. I got a nice magazine size pamplet on the joy that is hemmorhoids. I told him my story about bleeding uncontrollably, being anemic, weak and pathetic; with drs who just can't believe that the low levels of hemoglobin I have could be due to the rhoids. He shook his head and said that while this level of anemia is rare he is seeing this more and more frequently because people don't realize that there is an artery in the area that can be involved.
I had a feeling going in that this wouldn't be a "fun" surgery or an easy recovery and I was right. I have the highest level of this problem that one can have and so I need some "work" done - I'm not going to get too detailed here so you're safe, lol. He said the surgery takes about an hour, he will want to keep me probably one night in the hospital and I will be in PAIN for about 2 weeks and it will take 2 to 3 months before I am feeling "right" again. He said there's no sugar coating this but I will feel better than I have in years after I recover...yay! I told him to give me lots of drugs and I should be good to go, lol. I told him with the Fibro and RA running in high gear they have been kicking my ass and causing lots of pain. He laughed and said "Oh, that's where the hemmorhoids came from!" LOL. It's always nice to have a doc with a sense of humor.
So I will do a bowel prep the day before and I will probably try to stick with liquids as long as possible because once I start eating solids I'll be using the "plumbing" again and that's where the pain can show up. He's calling me tomorrow afternoon to set up the surgery for next week or the week after...fast huh? Ah well, I am going to keep smiling right up to the bitter end and laughing every chance I get. Hope you all are feeling great and have a good night, I'll let you know as soon as I have the date...hugs jilly

Hey Jilly. What pain in the...oh, okay, I won't go there. :-) Seriously, I can feel the frustration with all these surgeries and hospital visits from here and I don't blame you one bit. I'd be so ticked. I hope you recoup faster than he's predicting. Hugs, Lisa

Do you think you should rush into this surgery right now in case you have to move quickly? If the recovery can take 2-3 months that puts you incapacitated thru the holidays, sure you want to be feeling so icky at that time? Holidays are stressful for us all anyway and it seems havin g the surgery now will put an extra burden on everyone, especially Bob. I know you guys have been thru alot, but you need to think things through and not hastily rush into things. Maybe this your way of sticking your head in the sand, but unfortunately the crap life throws us continues no matter how we are feeling. I know you need the surgery, just wondering if this is the best time to schedule a surgical procedure that is not an emergency? hugs, marcia

Actually, it is an emergency because I lose so much blood that the highest my hemoglobin gets is 9.7 and it doesn't stay there. Since my stay in the hospital a couple of weeks ago I have already "lost" a pint. The dr showed my the palm of his hand and asked me to notice how red it was. Then he asked to see my palms and they are white and this shows how lacking I am in hemoglobin.
The dr said I should be feeling way better by the holidays so I'm just going to believe that, afterall I do heal faster than most people because of my fabulous immune system...lol. I need to get this done now because the extent of most of my days has been waking up, take a shower and put on clean jammies and rest. I'm really excited about feeling better and having a ton of energy in a couple of months, maybe I'll even be able to help clean my own home and take the dogs for a walk.
