    • About Me

I am a very busy working Mother of two Children, one is 19 and and studying Geography at University and the other aged 11 has just started High School. Married for 25 years, work full time in Insurance, helps pay the bills As a child I was a Gymnast training for Olympics for Britian, unfortunately didn't quite manage it, I still love the sport. I love yoga and keeping fit, used to do this every day, but family life made this impossible to do, so I just do yoga when I can and go to my slimming Club, which includes an aerobic workout each week. My downfall is my love of chocolate and cakes. I am a bit of a clean-a-holic, love housework, don't like cooking to much, have a wonderful Husband who does the cooking. We like holidays in the UK and have a Static Caravan which we go to as often as we can. My mum died when I was 28 years old, she was 46 years of age, I miss her terribly.

    • Close Hysterectomy

For years I have suffered each month and gradually each period was getting worse, plus breast tenderness for 10 days a month and my Gynaecologist found I had four large fibroids. I kept getting bladder infections, so after studying all the options available I decided to have a total Hysterectomy. On 2 July 2007 proceedure carried out, on 5 July 2007 came out of hospital. Had problems with my staples failing on the one side of the wound, but after four weeks the wound it healed nicely.

      Treatments

      Hysterectomy Working / Worked
So glad I had it, just now need to cope with the moodswings, hot flushes and tiredness. Will keep you posted how it is going.
      Pilates Working / Worked
Brilliant, really good for the core tummy muscles, really enjoying this.
      Premarin Not Working
Starting taking Premarin 3 days after operation, so far, so good. I am having a few mood swings, can loose my temper quicker than before. Note: I am now six months post operative and still having hot sweats at night time, plus have an itchy rash on my neck, face and in my hair, not sure if it is the premarine or not. Doctor has taken me off this HRT and swopped me to Livial.
    • Close Breast Cancer

In 1980 my Mum who was 46 died from breast cancer. I am now 45 years old and am frightened that I too will get this. I had total abdominal hysterectomy 2.7.2007 and been prescribed HRT. I have had checks to see if anyone else in family ever had breast cancer which came back negative and checks on myself which claims I am at no more risk than the average female in the United Kingdom, but still have panic attacks about it.

    • Open Diets & Weight Maintenance

I used to be so slim, but since the loss of my Mum in 1990 I comfort ate. I am now overweight and want to sort this out. I eat when I am upset or stressed and this is a problem.

      Treatments

      Atkins Diet Working / Worked
Tried it, lost lots of weight in first 14 days, then got terrible back pain, so stopped this diet immediately.
      Counting Calories Working / Worked
If I do this I loose weight, but I am naughty and forget to do it some days.
      Physical Exercise Working / Worked
I love yoga and aerobics and I think this helps keep me fit and at the weight I am now.
    • Open Anxiety

Just get anxious at times, sometimes for no reason.

    • Open Family Issues

I had a happy childhood. My mum and dad married when they were young, mum was 17 and dad was 21 years of age, they had me when mum was 18 years old. I have a sister who is 18 months younger than me and a brother who is 6 years younger than me. After my mum died my dad married my mums sister and I didn't cope with this and now I have very little contact with my dad. There is more to this than I am prepared to say here, but it has been very traumatic for me.

      Treatments

      Talking Working / Worked
I have shared my problems with my Hubby, he has been my rock.
      Writing Working / Worked
      Helps.
    • Open Bereavement
      Type: Loss of a Parent

On 23.12.1990 my Mum, aged just 46 years died from breast cancer. I was 27 years old at the time and has a daughter aged just 1 year. I miss her so much and each Christmas it is very hard.

      Treatments

      Crying Working / Worked
It helps, I don't cry as often as I used to now.
      Keeping Busy Working / Worked
On 23 December I make sure I am very busy, it really helps.
      Pets Working / Worked
My lovely dog helps me so much.
      Prayer Working / Worked
At first I hated God, I blamed him for taking my mum. I feel very different now and prayer really helps.
      Reading Working / Worked
      I love reading.
      Remembering Working / Worked
I like to think about the past and the good times.
Support from Friends & Family Working / Worked
Mum dying split my family, my Husband has been my Rock and my best friend and cousin has been wonderful.
      Talking Working / Worked
It is great to talk and has helped me no end.
      Time Working / Worked
I don't think I will ever get over the loss of my mum, but as time goes by it does get easier.
