I just spent the last 2 months getting out of deployment orders because I have been approved for retirement from the Navy effective May 31st. I just got a phone call that Washington has yet again given me another set of orders. This time it is from much higher up and I will have to spend a few hours on the phone with Washington trying to clear up the orders. The new orders have me reporting between April and June for a one year tour in the sand.
My daughter heard Washington leave the message on the phone and she is upset again. This has been a crazy few months and with my retirement approved I have at least a 50% chance of getting them cancelled. I'm not afraid of going but I have done my share and I'm ready to retire. I have my kids most of the time and deployment now would hurt me at work with all the lay offs.
I am hoping to get this resolved fairly quickly one way or the other.
I hope everyone is doing well and remember to hug the little ones every chance you get.

It's very admirable what you are doing for your family. I see the situation of you taking full custody of your girls as a blessing in disguise. A father figure in a girls life is so very important. How a father treats his daughters is what young women look for in a mate. Treat them well and they will find a SO who treats them well.

Oh Mike that is frightening news. Your poor daughters...you've been their rock and they know it. Washington can't do this to you now. I hope you've got an Ace in your pocket you can play. I will say prayers on you and your little ones behalf. I wish you really did have sole custody surely they'd bow out then.

Yep, they can postpone retirement and retain your services especially if you have a hard to come by specialty in the Armed Forces. I hope you get your way.
