    • About Me

I'm a self-taught artist and love to read when not in too much pain. Currently a disabled Secretary/Word Processor. I have two very loving children 16 and 10. Would like to meet others here who also suffer from similiar health issues. It's hard to keep friends in the real world when you have health issues and can't keep up with them. So i enjoy support groups to encourage others and get the strength i need to continue on my journey through LIFE!

    • Close Fibromyalgia

I have been suffering with Fibromyalgia for around 12 years.

      Treatments

      Cymbalta Working / Worked
it has helped me to lose 30 lbs. and helped the depression a little bit also at first it helped the back pain.
      Duragesic Patch Working / Worked
When it sticks to me i leave it on for 3 days and it helps a little bit.
    • Close Chronic Pain

I have Chronic back pain due to my 2nd child's birth. He was 9 lb and 9 oz. My tailbone was fractured and my left si joint was twisted. He will be 11 on Sept. 4th so i have suffered many years with this and currently dealing with a Neurosurgeon to get screws in my L4 L5 and S1 and the tailbone removed. Have to go get nerve blocks one more time before the surgery however. Have fibromyalgia also. So i am pretty much in pain 24/7. UPDATE: EMERGENCY BACK SURGERY ON AUGUST 2, 2007

      Treatments

      Chiropractic Adjustment Working / Worked
      i get relief from chiropractic
      Cymbalta Working / Worked
this helps the depression that goes with the chronic pain and also i have lost weight being on it ~ no appetite
      Hydrocodone Working / Worked
the generic for Vicodin, yes i eat them like candy every day or i can't even get up.
      Lidoderm Working / Worked
      the patch works sometimes.
      Surgery Working / Worked
I ended up with emergency back surgery after joining DS and i had a double lumbar laminectomy which is 4 screws in the L4 to L5 and L5 to S1 facet joints and the middle coccyx joint removed that i broke giving birth to my son 11 years ago. Finally, some relief after the surgery, the shooting sciatica pain down the left leg is gone so far and i am 3 mos post op still healing and going to aqua therapy. Hoping for better days still in pain and can't sit well but in time that will heal too.
    • Open Depression

My depression started as a teenager during my parents divorce, my 1st marriage was abusive by an alcoholic man, and now my second marriage is ending due to his lack of support and love and my health issues. Being in pain for 24/7 hasn't been easy and having doctors not believe in years is very depressive especially when you hurt and no love or support from your spouse.

      Treatments

      Cymbalta Working / Worked
lost 30 lbs being on it, its helps the depression, and blocked some pain signals.
    • Open Sleep Apnea

I was diagnosed about 2003 and wearing the cpap helps me not feel so tired in the mornings now and seems to help my fibromyalgia as well. Because i quit breathing 52 times and almost 110 times on my sleep study so my muscles weren't getting proper oxygen. I love the nasal pillow mask verses the full nose mouth one. Would rather not wear one at all not the most sexy thing to wear to bed but hey if it saves our lives we do what we have to right?

      Treatments

      CPAP Working / Worked
I have to be careful of taking sedatives to help me sleep for the fibromyalgia and chronic back pain and if i take them i need to make sure to wear the cpap then. I have lost 30 lbs. but still have sleep apnea, it runs in my family....
    • Open ADHD / ADD

My son was diagnosed with inattentive ADD this past spring after 2 previous rough years at school, he is a 6th graders now and 11 years old.

      Treatments

      Strattera Working / Worked
18mg seems to work and not make him so sleepy. He could not be on a stimulant because of the stress he was having in school he was actually showing signs of tourettes with muscle tics and that would increase the tics if he would be on a stimulant. Doing a lot better this year and we have a better teacher too.
    • Open Hypothyroidism

My 16 year old daughter developed a goiter 3 1/2 years ago and just found out it is Hashimoto Thyroiditis. The med the doc put her on made her double over in cramps and she could not walk. Had labs today and appt. tomorrow hopefully he has a new med to try. I am so scared for her. I have a host of ailments and recent back surgery so too much stress and both kids have asthma as well to deal with.
