  I know exactely what you mean your friend has and incompetent cervix which is what I have. I had my baby girl 7 weeks ago at 35 weeks. I was put on bedrest at 21 weeks for preterm labor the membrains where coming through my short cervix measuring less than 1.5cm. They did a cerclage right then and there. But since her cervix is really short im going to say bedrest is the best thing for now, completely on her back. My doctor gave me Nifedipine also called Procardia 4 times a day, to relax my uterus that medication kept my baby in there until I was 35 weeks and my stitches were removed. She should ask her doctor about that medication, as soon as her cervix grows which does happen mine always grew then dramatecally change to a dangerous length then grew back again. I will be praying for your friend so her pregnancy goes to full term. Also 3 days before she turns 24 weeks she should get the steroid shots for the babies lungs. I got the steroid shots which are suppose to help the lungs develope faster and make them stronger if the baby is to be born early. I say three days before 24 weeks because it usally takes 2 days to start working.

  Ashley, congratulations on your beautiful little Brady! I have just had the time to read your journal entries and I am so sorry that you had to be put under for your c-section and that neither you or John were able to witness his birth... I know that he was born safe and healthy, but it is so hard when the birth experience is not anything like you had hoped and planned. And then to have to go through the scare of your life! I am so glad that everything turned out Ok. Hope you are enjoying every moment together!
