HI Pam45, I was diagnosed 20+ yrs ago by the first rhumatologist I saw. Lucky me. The first med he prescribed and the only one I've stuck with is the low-grade antiinflamatory. Once, while going thru pain mgmt, the anethestologist changed a lot of my meds and when I got worse, I realized he'd dropped my antiinflamatory.I'd never known what pain was until I was taken off my antiinflamatory pill. If you're hurting, why not give that antiinflamatory a try? Without it I can feel my body being pulled into the depths of hell. I was cautined from the beginning, that the anti-inflam meds take time to get in the blood stream...sometimes months. It's not a fast cure. But, it helped me. Just a thought.

Hi Pam, I have only been diagnosed with FM recently after suffering for years. I too suffer with my chest exactly as you have described, and currently been having tests under cardiology which so far have been negative. I have since be informed by a fellow FM sufferer that there is a condition called COSTOCHONDRITIS which is often linked with FM. Costochondritis is a syndrome of chest wall pain that is due to inflammation of the cartilage and bones in the chest wall. Also called Tietze's Syndrome, costochondritis occurs when there is inflammation at the junction of the rib bone and breastbone (sternum). At this junction, there is cartilage joining these bones. This cartilage can become irritated and inflamed. Depending on the extent of the inflammation, this condition can be quite painful. I hope this helps a bit Pam. I also suffer with my neck, back, hips, fingers and toes, irritable bowel, the works. Its all linked and related to the FM. Wishing you a good day Pam and please feel free to send me a message any time. Take care Hugs Lyn X
