Close Codependency
I'm a recovering alcoholic, a Clinical Social Worker (therapist), a wife of 14 years to a divorced man with six kids. We have 5 grandchildren. I am struggling with codependency problems, particularly related to stepfamily stuff.
Treatments
- 12 Step Program Working / Worked
- AA - the ONLY thing that has ever worked. It introduced me (again) to God and the power of prayer, fellowship and the spiritual path.
- Pets Working / Worked
- Talking Working / Worked
- Xanax Not Working
- Did NOT work (for my anxiety). In fact, it exacerbated the problems. Stopped it years ago!! I became paranoid, even more fearful -- you name it.
Open Incest Survivors
Molested by my father, my uncle and a stranger in the park. No penetration. Violent, military home. Now recovery alcoholic/addict, therapist, stepmother, no kids of my own, 56 years old, first marriage (15 yrs), active in AA.
