Hi, Mari here. I'm new in town. I'm looking for emotional support. I have an 11 year old depressed, suicidal child who may also be bipolar. I got a postive diagnosis today of her having major depression but i don't agree with her doctor. I'm bipolar and suspect she is too because of rapid mood swings. They will start her on 25 mg. Zoloft on Saturday and see if that helps. I am worried because antidepressants can cause some children and teens to act on their sucidal thoughts. But she needs to be on something. Otherwise, she will end up in the psych unit a third time. I found a sucide note in her journal. That's why I brought her in this time. She will be closly monitored but still I am anxious.

I am hopeful she will get better. She will have better treatment of her mood disorder than I ever did. I was depressed all throughout my childhood, bipolar by age 12. I didn't receive therapy or medication untill I was 21. A VERY long time to suffer.
