My brother Tony.

I've had 2 children (boys)and have 2 granddaughters. My brother has been diagnosed with end stage cirrhois and I'm trying to reach out to share what I am learning with hopes of giving back. My fervent wish is to make his last days as comfortable. In other matters I am a member of the ONE.org organization and do everything I can to eliminate extreme poverty in the world.

Sue, I want to thank you so much for sharing about your brother. It is so sad how we treat people in this great country of ours, isn't it? You would have thought his diagnosis would have been enough to get his SSI put through the first try. But, there is no rhyme or reason to how that system works. I could write a book about it myself but am not going into that right now. My sister is the one with cirrohis and I (like you) feel like I am fighting the battle for her by myself. There is so much to learn about diet, etc. and yet there is no one to help even with the simple things. Please accept my deepest condolences in the loss of Tony. I know its a little late but this is the first time I had read you post and I am fairly new to this site. Do you mind if I ask you were able to get him to UAB or where was he going to the ER in AL? I live in Rome, GA right over the border and we have kids that live in Centre, AL. I know there are plenty of people here, including myself that will benefit from your experiences with Tony if and when you are up to sharing. I am so new at this and feel very ignorant on the subject. I have a descent amount of medical knoweldege but the cirrohis issue is way beyond anything I know about. And so many things are critical to their care. Take care and I look forward to hearing from you. Mary
Date: TODAY From: GOD Subject: YOURSELF Reference: LIFE This is God. Today I will be handling All of your problems for you. I do Not need your help. So, have a nice day. I love you. P.S. And, remember... If life happens to deliver a situation to you that you cannot handle, do Not attempt to resolve it yourself! Kindly put it in the SFGTD (something for God to do) box. I will get to it in MY TIME. All situations will be resolved, but in My time, not yours. Once the matter is placed into the box, do not hold onto it by worrying about it. Instead, focus on all the wonderful things that are present in your life now. Should you decide to send this to a friend; Thank you. You may have touched their life in ways you will never know! Now, you have a nice day. God God has seen you struggling, God says it's over. A blessing is coming your way. I received this the other day and just had to share it. Hope you have a wonderful day!!! Christine
Thank you for the hug and for sharing your experience with your brother's cirrhosis with me. It is really weird how this disease works....one day total disorientation.....the next peppy and ready to take on the world!!! I just worry about him falling when my husband or I are not there. There are times when neither of us can be there (and the rest of the family seems to have disappeared somehow) and he gets so weak. My 7 year old twin daughters are nervous when he gets confused and angry, and I don't know what to say to them......it is really a sad situation. Thanks for the encouragement and kind words. Hope all is well with your brother. Wish him well for me.
Hey Sue, Thanks for the support. Havent been around much lately, in hosp. alot dealing with amonia. My husband is really scared by that. The whole situation scares me. Days and nights mixed up, cant eat but small tidbits at a time. Meet with transplant team on 19th Nov. This should start a whole other ride. Hope all is well with your brother. I got my senator involved early on and had my medicaid and ssi in 6 weeks. My sister was a complete nag and I think they gave in to shut her up but it worked. Blessing to your family, cetan
Hope your brother gets the help he needs and deserves soon. I work in a doctor's office and I see people everyday come in with Medicaid related insurances and they have their nails done and their gold is hanging off of them, It makes me sick, they are unemployed and from other countries and our hard working citizens have nothing. My own 23 year son has a job, but no ins or dental and hasn't been to a doctor since he was 21. May God bless you and keep his arm around your shoulder.
I'm here on behalf of my brother who had been diagnosed with end stage cirrhosis of the liver. I am terrified for him and need to talk to others who have gone through this or have someone they love going through it.
I have had bleeding hemmoroids for so time now and I've had good results with using glycerin suppositories when things get too impacted. I still have problems but I have a sister who has had surgery and it didn't help help that much, too the point she doesn't recommend I have it. So I carry on with trying to treat myself and find what will ultimately work for me.
My brother has recently been diagnosed with HepC and end stage cirrhosis. In July alone he had 4 paracentisis proceedures and what makes this bad is he doesn't have insurance and we are at the mercy of doctors at the state run hospital in our city. He is in the hospital now having had high levels of ammonia due to too much protein in his diet, which we didn't know he was suppose to be watching. You guys are educating me and I will give back what I learn. Hang in there and thanks. Sue
