A stitch in time.....

I have had Parkinson's Disease for 17yrs now diagnosed at 33yrs. Over the years I've learnt to soak up all the hard knocks that life throws at you and getting PD was such a shock too, came out of the blue. I've managed to cope by developing an inner strength that's always positive to draw off when it's needed. I love the outdoors with all the fresh air. I've always found it easy to make friends and have made some really lovely one's on DS. I don't think I have any enemies, well I sincerely hope not.

I like a few sports, though mainly Football. I used to play many years ago mostly for a laugh!! You should see me in shorts, lol, I have legs like Eric Morecombe lol. I'm mildly interested in Motor Racing both cars and bikes. Many years ago I tried ski-ing, I'd never laughed so much in my life and so hadn't the people who went along with me, that was about 5/6 months before my diagnosis.I like all things Historic like Castles, Battlefields(Hastings, Bosworth Field etc...). One thing I'd like to do is visit and stay overnight in a haunted place!! spoooooky. I hope one day to find that special person who's so elusive so far.Life begins at 50..!! or was it 40!!, I'm told I'm wearing well it must be in the genes. As some of you will already know I love to make people laugh, though I ain't too good at remembering jokes at times and lose my way..that in itself can be very funny as at times my delivery is very dry and with a deadpan expression. !!;O))

Hi I'm dirk 50 from the UK have had Parkinsons 17 yrs.Started with tremour in right hand and progressed from there. I think it's essential to have a positive attitude towards PD, it helps a great deal. Stay as active as you can and a great sense of humour helps too.
