Treatments

Acupuncture Somewhat Helpful

This was relaxing, but I don't know if it helped with my IVF treatment. It wasn't able to make the IVF work, but it might have calmed me.

Artificial Insemination Not Working

Basal Thermometer Working / Worked

I hate the thermometer now.

Clomid Somewhat Helpful

Helpful in that it produced a bunch of happy-looking eggs, but didn't get us pregnant in 4 months. Turns out Clomid has the opposite effect on me: thins the uterine lining so much that the embryos won't stick.

Folic Acid Working / Worked

When I have a baby with no birth defects, I'll be able to say if this has worked.

Follistim Working / Worked

I stim'ed those Foll's and got 11 great eggs. They just didn't stick around in the end.

hCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin) Working / Worked

Yep; this produced one heck of an ovulation.

HSG (Hysterosalpingography) Not Working

This was what finally diagnosed my tubal issues. BUT it gave me a false positive result (my uterus must have cramped up and clamped the tubes shut) -- so I spent lots of money on IVF when I had nothing wrong with my system at all.

In Vitro Fertilization Working / Worked

Only took 3 tries! Glad we did the Shared Risk payment plan.

Lexapro Working / Worked

This was my "be myself" pill after I got depressed. Before this, I didn't know why I should get up in the morning. Now it doesn't occur to me to wonder.

Lupron Working / Worked

Easy shots, nicely keep the ovulation at bay.

Ovulation Predictor Kit Somewhat Helpful

Never did have much luck figuring out if I ovulated. If I did, I did it late and the predictor kit never gave me anything other than a very light line.

Progesterone Working / Worked

I took Progesterone in Oil (PIO), and it was absolutely the hardest part of IVF. My butt was very, very sore and one time we hit a vein with one of the shots and blood gushed from me like a volcano. I swapped the shots for progesterone suppositories, which were pretty messy but much less painful. And my inner thighs stayed nice and greasy. Yum.

Psychotherapy Working / Worked

Been doing this for 3 years since I hit my "Great Depression." I find this very helpful. It doesn't change everything but makes me more aware of what I'm doing and why.

Wellbutrin Working / Worked

This helped eliminate some of the sexual side-effects of the Lexapro. Now I have the urge to snuggle up to my husband. Very important in baby-making.
