I did that several years ago on the advice of a psychiatrist. I went back to when I was about 2 or 3 years old, and my parents were always drunk and fighting.
I walked in my old house, went over and picked up the little me, and told my parents that if they weren't going to take care of her, I will.
Then, with the little me in my arms, I walked out the door.
It took a week or two for it to really sink in, but I realized that by taking my little self out of that confusion and neglect, I really did find closure.
It doesn't hurt anymore when I look back on that time, because I went back and "fixed it".
Wonderful picture, by the way!
Tears in my eyes from this one. Now, if we can convince my little Sheree to quit sucking her thumb, do you suppose I could quit smoking cigarettes? Well, if the inner child can be convinced to drop her security blanket and pick up her beauty, then why not? Hmm. Worth some thought. I like pictures and captions like this!
TLCDaisy sent me the link to this site. I was moved by this poster, so, I'm sharing it with you.
