Betty- My mom is in California near Rancho Cucamonga and I am in Virgnia, so I only see her a few times a year and talk to her maybe once a week, but she doesnt like to talk anymore, but she knows who I am...she doesnt remember breakfast or remember that my dad died. I am scared of losing her soon as well. I know you came to this site for support and generally Im great for that...right now my family is obviously in crisis. Do you any good alzheimer hospitals treatment in California? I tried to pull up the link for the books and videos you suggest. I should know more, but I have been dealing with the loss of my baby and my father and she has been taking advantage of my lack of attention to my mom...depressed people like I was dont fight for their mother's rights...but my brother and I are on it...and it is probable she could end up here..and Im nervous as I have an emotionally challenged child, plus 3, pets, and a big house. BUT my mom took excellent care of me so she deserves nothing less. My father had been in the navy for 20 years and the state for 25 years and got 2 pensions plus social security...no house payment and small utility bill, their care would run from 11 am to 6 pm, she would have someone there for like 15$ an hour and put her to bed and dad to from 6pm to 11 am and no overnight care. My brother and I were not happy as it stayed like that for 3 YEARS...Once dad died, she moved the caretaker in and gives her free rent and $2000 a month. She gets one weekend off a month and the service watches mom. I think her caretaker is nice, and unless my sister is lying, she does an ok job. We are just wondering where my dad's entire life saving went. He had 350K in the bank, and in 3 years it dwindled to 150K but my dad's income for the month was 5,000.00 and my mom didnt have care, only my dad. So 60,000 a year plus ...so with 430,000.00 missing in only 3-4 years time plus their care was only 7 hours a day at 10$ an hour and 15$ and hour on the weekend. So much is missing...and sister goes to Vegas, bought brandname items and acts very entitled...sorry Im venting.. I hope you find what you are looking for...Click on people and find a happy face to befriend...you might just love georgiaw, she is 62 and an ex nurse and cares for her husband with alzheimers..
