    • About Me

I am 34 years old, have a wonderful family that is very supportive and loving. I worked administratively in a couple of Community Colleges and very active in 2 community bands in the area. I like to do crafts, read, and play with my 2 cats. My Philosophy: live life to the fullest and never ever give up. Sometimes you may say things you don't mean - you've come this far so keep on trucking. Some days will be harder than others, just do what you want to do and what your body tells you to do.

      Hello there,

Today I had some blood work because I've not been feeling too hot. Thought I had a virus but it seems to be 'lingering' -- …

    • Close Bone Marrow Transplant

I was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia with Philadelphia Chromosome in September and was told that it was important to find a Bone Marrow Donor as quickly as possible. I went through a lot of chemotherapy and full body radiation. I had many family members test but were not a match. Luckily, we found an unrelated donor by October 2005 and I had my Bone Marrow Transplant on December 23rd, 2005. Since then I have had GVHD of the stomach. I live life to the fullest every day.

      Treatments

      Cellcept Working / Worked
After a long wait, the Bone Marrow took half an hour, just like getting blood.
      Chemotherapy Working / Worked
It was hard and I got very sick but it worked.
      Gleevec Working / Worked
Very hard on my stomach and I got very sick and didn't want to eat at all but this helped me to be in remission in November 2--5, just after being diagnosed in Sept. 2005
      Radiotherapy Working / Worked
Very long week and some hard days. Going 2 times per day 4 days out of 5 made me lose my tastebuds again, but helped the Bone Marrow Transplant to become a success.
