About Me
I'm a 46 year old female. I live in Michigan. No children. I'm off work right now on medical leave. It REALLY bites. I hate not working. I don't know how people do it. I'm working on getting my health under control, so I can return to work as soon as possible. My brother has been great about helping me out, he goes to dr. appts. with me and such. Cooks for me when I can't. So I have been able to find some silver linings in the clouds.

- Atkins Diet Working / Worked
- I tried a diet similar to this called Prism I only lost about 10 lbs, and gained it all back :(
- Eating Healthier Foods Working / Worked
- I'm still trying this one, am working with a dietition to help meet goals
Close Depression
I have dealt with depression since I was a kid. Due to situation with my family. My parents were alcoholics. My mom, in particular, was very abusive. I remember thinking at one point, I'd be surprised if I didn't die from saddness.
Treatments
- Effexor Working / Worked
- I'm not sure if this was working or not, was on this for awhile after a car accident, my primary care dr changed it once I was discharged back to his care.
- Lexapro Somewhat Helpful
- It is somewhat helpful in dealing with the depression and anxiety.
- Psychotherapy Too Soon to Tell
- I've just started counseling with a therapist. I'll know soon enough.
- Writing Working / Worked
- Yes, this is quite helpful to me. I enjoy writing anyway, and this is especially theraputic.
Open Loneliness
I have felt isolated from the rest of the world my entire life. Growing up I had very few friends. Both parents were alcoholics, my mother was a mean drunk. My father had blinders on. My brother got away with anything. In my family, male children were highly esteemed. Although now as adults, my brother and I get along fairly well. I am also a surivor of sexual abuse by an uncle. I have trust issues. I've been working on being more open to people, so that I don't feel so isolated.

- Ativan Working / Worked
- I took this when in the hospital for a car accident in 2004. My primary care physican switched me to xanex after release from hospital. But I no longer take xanex.
- Lexapro Working / Worked
- The lexapro seems to be doing a good job for me. I haven't had any side effects
- St. John\'s Wort Working / Worked
- Xanax Working / Worked
- I've taken this from time to time. Not currently taking, but it has worked for me in the past.
- Zoloft Somewhat Helpful
- took this several years ago. my dr took me off it. he didn't want me to get addicted.
Open Incest Survivors
To deal with the aftermath of incest that happened to me. I was molested by my uncle when I was a kid, I had no one to help me.
Open Arthritis
Treatments
- Arthrotec Working / Worked
- Was working fine, but during a hospital stay, a dr changed it.
- Bextra Working / Worked
- I thought this worked quite well for me, but it's been pulled from the market
- Glucosamine/Chondroitin Working / Worked
- Works well, just wish it wasn't so expensive.
- Voltaren Somewhat Helpful
- it does work, but not quite as well as some of the others.
