Married, I have five kids, three special needs. Active in church, run support group for homeschooling spec needs kids, homeschool two of my special kids and love it! Will be studying Christian Counseling soon, I'm very excited about this! My philosophy is "Let Go and Let God!"

So sorry that I haven't answered you in so long. Things have been very busy for me lately...going to different specialists, tests, physical therapy...exhausted! I go in for a lip biopsy Monday, to determine if this is Sjogren's (Rheumy is convinced it is) or not. Anyways...was good to hear from you. I'll try and update more often. Hope you doing much better than I lately! ;)rn~tj

Close Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
Type: Relapsing-remitting MSTold 14 yrs ago probable MS, go home and rest. Remission for over decade. Slammed again in 2005 and got diagnosed. Rebiff didn't work for me. In National MS drug trial now. Mostly cognitive issues, fatigue and some physical. I focus on my group I run for parents homeschooling spec kids and teaching my two of three spec needs kids. Church keeps me grounded and hopeful.

- Takes my mind off my own condition and reminds me that someone always has it harder.
Close Autism / Autism Spectrum
I have two kids with autism. 12 yo girl, 7 yo boy
Treatments
- Early Intervention Working / Worked
- Used sign to limit stress on learning language, they are now fully verbal.
- Independent Living Skills Working / Worked
- Working on independence with Mr 7 and living skills for Ms. 12 (she is also moderate MR)...
- Occupational Therapy Working / Worked
- It did wonders to help with sensory issues!
- Picture / Word Schedules Working / Worked
- Helped when younger.
Open Mental Challenged
I havve three special needs children, two stepkids and I have MS myself w/depression. My 12 yo daughter has autism, moderate MR, seizure disorder and arthritis. My 7 yo is starting to pass her by in many ways and she notices the difference, it so effects her self-esteem. I homeschool her and she is doing awesome socially and better academically tho she is in level second grade math, fifth spelling, you know-all over the board. She's a beautiful girl!
Open Schizophrenia
My teen age adopted son has paranoid schizophrenia. I can no longer find ways to deal with his outbursts and need support and advice desperately.

I am a mom with active multiple sclerosis, have three spec needs kids, homeschool two of them, run a support group for homeschoolers of spec needs kids, have two step teens-one who is 15 and hard to cope with lately. I've raised them full-time for five years now. Love them like my own. SusanNC

Type: Clinical (Major) DepressionI am a forty yo mom to three special needs, raising two stepkids full time. I have MS which is quite active right now. In a med research trial for it, had a bad relapse over two weeks ago. Active in my church and bible group, run a support group for parents who homeschool spec needs kids, I hs two of mine. Depression has plagued me most of my life, genetic.
Treatments
- Celexa Somewhat Helpful
- Worked great for long time, but think it's effectiveness is wearing off...no side effects.
- Meditation Working / Worked
- Mostly yoga and deep breathing, it helps a LOT!
- Psychotherapy Working / Worked
- Have a great christian therapist that is helping me cope with the MS and depression.
- Helping Others Working / Worked
- I feel good when I get to help others, work with homeschoolers, my support group I run and when I can make it to church...I love to help people....
