hi friends, I'm so happy just found …
hi friends, I'm so happy just found out to day that I'm having a GIRL!!!!!!!!!! I'm happy b/c i have two sisters …
So Thursday I taught my class and had the forethought to have Jon bring over my final when I forgot it so that I could leave copies of it. We went home and had a normal evening with Brian. We had a little fun with "what got the baby in will get the baby out" ;-) I guess it workes. At 4 am I woke up with contractions. By 5:30 they were 2 min apart and lasting about 30 sec. So i called the hospital and went in. They finally got me hooked up at about 6:30- 7. After about 4 contractions they came and flipped me to my left side. After about 3 more, they came in and told me his heart rate was dropping after each contraction. Since I was still early in labor, and he was no where near descending into the birth canal, they recommended a C-section. When he checked me he also said I have a narrow pubic arch which may be why Brian nor Will ever dropped. He said I could let it go longer, but he felt like longer was going to be several days and then I would end up with a C section anyways and possibly an emergency one. So even though I didn't want a C section, I wanted an emergency c-section even less. So I went ahead an had it done. They came in and gave me the epidural and then my blood pressure bottomed out. I had to have 2 doses of ephedrine to get it back up. Then I got queasy. They couldn't give me anything until he was born, but the anethetist gave me something immediately. Once I was in recovery they gave me some ice chips and I started throwing up. A different doctor performed this C-section than the last one. I am in a lot less pain from it. He went slower and used stitches instead of staples.
As one of the doctors put it.. "he came out swinging. He was pissed!" yep he came out screaming and continued screaming for about 10 minutes. Even the doctors were commenting on how long he went! He also had an APGAR score of 10, which is unheard of, esp with C-section babies! Since then though he has settled down. He is nursing like crazy. One of the pediatricians checked on us one morning and said I could increase nursing to 8-10 min/ side. I wanted to laugh at him. Will had just finished an hour of continuous nursing! Now that my milk is in I expect him to slow down a bit.
Brian was bigger than Will in all measurements except weight, but we always knew he was a skinny kid.
