Ok, I have been teaching human anatomy and physiology for 8 years now. Every time we do the bones and we are looking at the pelvis, I point out the pubic symphasis. This is a bar of cartilage that joins your left and right side and occurs right in the middle in the front. EVERY time I mention that this "softens" during pregnancy to allow the pelvic bones to spread farther apart for the baby's head and that this contributes to the waddling gait of very pregnant women.
Doesn't it sound nice? It "softens". Sounds like something you don't even notice. Ok... so last night I was laying in bed and it felt like someone was sawing that pubic symphasis in 2 with one of the little saws for carving pumpkins! I need a more accurate word than softens, but I don't want to traumatize my 19-20 year old girls!

Not that I know from experience yet, but would anyone really tell it the way that it is? Homo erectus never would have made it off the block if the ladies told the youngins what was really around the bend! Sorry you are so uncomfortable :)

Ugh...you know I feel your pain, literally!!!!! Softens is not the word I would use either...rips apart or tears or something along those lines would be more accurate..funny enough, I never noticed this with my boys' pregnancies...only with this one!
I hope you get some relief from it soon...unfortunately mine started and has shown no signs of stopping! My dr. prescribed a "prenatal cradle" for me. Hope that helps. :)
