About Me
I'm married (13 years) to a wonderful man, we have 2 boys- and I'm a stay at home mom. I'm a licensed therapist and a professional public speaker, so I do work also, just not full time or even part time. I work when I want!! I teach discipline programs to parents who are struggling with their children. I also volunteer as a Disaster Response Team Member through our church- we respond to any disaster within a 4 hour travel *by car* distance. It's part of the United Methodist church, and there are hundreds of churches in my area alone. I also volunteer at my children's school. I love my life!

Hugbook
Hug
I wrote this poem several years ago and hope that you will enjoy it and that it may give comfort and reassurance into the meaning of life. It goes as follows: LIFE'S JOURNEY I pray that God will bless you At the start of each new day And grant you health and happiness And friends to share your way As you journey through this life To reach that Ultimate Goal May you find peace and happiness Deap within your soul The road is long and narrow Full of trials and sufferings too But you must continually endure it As the appropriate thing to do Each of us has a tunnel Either filled with thorns or roses We must travel through the thorny tunnel To achieve heaven and the roses. Close Infidelity
I've had 2 affairs- and I live a daily nightmare because of them. I made the choices- I blame no one but myself. Thank GOD I was saved before I was even borne! Thank you Jesus!
Treatments
- Prayer Working / Worked
- Definately- 200%.
- Lexapro Not Working
- Psychotherapy Working / Worked
- Absolutely.
- Crying Somewhat Helpful
- Usually just makes me more upset- sometimes helps.
Close Back Pain
New here... was hit by a car going 75 thru a red light, and I was going 30 through a green. Long story short, I have a "new" neck- titanium, cadaver bones and various and assundry pieces. It hurts- badly. I was hit in Jan '07, surgery March '07 (cuz they didn't quite believe that I was in THAT much pain. Duh, 105 mph collision? 2 totalled cars?) They finally did an MRI March 28, I had EMERGENCY surgery March 29, '07. I feel like a barometer- I can even tell you if it's going to rain!
Treatments
- Cortisone (Injection) Working / Worked
- I wanted to KILL the doctor.
- Prayer Working / Worked
- Helps me get through the more painful days, and the very painful nights.
- Lexapro Working / Worked
- Helps to deal better with the back pain, but certainly doesn't take the pain away.
Open Migraine Headaches
I'm 35, diagnosed at age 13. Been through almost all the options until my neurologist realized he'd left 2 out: botox *helps wonderfully* and an ANSAR test. Showed I had an imbalance between my sympathetic nervous system and my parasympathetic nervous system. And when they went "haywire", I got a migraine. Hmmm... still on tons of meds, which I hate. I was also diagnosed with mini-seizures, which I could even feel- they just induced migraines.
Treatments
- Amerge Not Working
- nope- didn't work
- Avoid Certain Foods / Chemicals Not Working
- Been through all that early on.
- Axert Somewhat Helpful
- with mild migraines, it helps.
- Botulin Toxin Working / Worked
- Has completely eliminated all of my mild migraines (which averaged 6-9/mo), and significantly reduced my moderate and severe ones by 60% (which leaves me with about 5/mo
- Compazine Not Working
- Nope- phenergen does tho
- Depakote Working / Worked
- It helped with the mini-seizures, but the side effects were horrible for me.
- Prayer Not Working
- Sorry, God. But, nothing but meds take the pain of a migraine away. Altho, I do pray every morning that I don't get a migraine!!
- Lexapro Not Working
- Nope.
- Crying Not Working
- I cry because I hurt soooo badly, but crying makes the pain of a migraine MUCH worse.
Open Insomnia
Diagnosed when I was pregnant with my first son, 10 years ago. On several meds, but I'm still up at all hours of the night.
Treatments
- Ambien Working / Worked
- It works, 75% of the time. Can't take Ambien 10 mg- had amnesia. Ambien CR (12.5) works well tho
- Lunesta Not Working
- Nope. Wide awake cuz of that HORRIBLE taste it puts in your mouth!!.
- Restoril Not Working
- Nope.
- Prayer Somewhat Helpful
- Slows my mind down a bit.
- Lexapro Somewhat Helpful
- Slows my mind down a bit.
- Crying Not Working
- Sometimes I cry out of pure exhaustion- but it doesn't help me fall asleep...
Open Restless Legs Syndrome
Diagnosed with RLS at age 9 (after explaining for years that my legs itched at night). 3 sleep studies and the doctors said I never hit REM sleep even once cuz that's when I started thrashing (their words)
Treatments
Open Sleep Apnea
Diagnosed in 2002. 3 sleep studies. I don't have typical apnea- I don't snore, I don't stop breathing, I'm not overweight or a smoker or a drinker. I weigh 115#. I hyperventilate while sleeping (called hypopnea). CPAP AND BIPAP only exacerbated my insomnia.
Treatments
- CPAP Not Working
- I felt claustrophobic!! And, they couldn't find a mask to fit me, even the XS was too big. I was scared that I wouldn't be able to hear my kids over the CPAP sound!
- Neurontin Working / Worked
- I still don't sleep well. Am supposed to see an oral surgeon to talk about the UPPP surgery, but that scares the crap out of me. And the mouthpiece option... nope.
- Prayer Not Working
- ditto.
- Lexapro Not Working
Open Bipolar Disorder
Hi! New here. I was diagnosed bipolar approx 10yrs ago, but it's well managed with meds. I also happen to be a licensed therapist who works for a psychiatric hospital. Having Bipolar has helped me be a much better clinician, and I wouldn't change it for the world.
Treatments
- Depakote Somewhat Helpful
- Side effects too horrible
- Lexapro Working / Worked
- Doing great!
- Prayer Working / Worked
- Definately- He gets me through the rough spots.
- Lexapro Working / Worked
- Definately.
- Psychotherapy Working / Worked
- Yep.
- Crying Working / Worked
- Sure- when it's needed.
- Lamictal Not Working
- AWFUL. Was on it- killed my personality.
Open Hysterectomy
Abdominal hysterectomy in August of 2005. Was anemic from bleeding constantly, had fibroids and polyps, 3 miscarriages (but I did end up having 2 children! The miscarriages were spread out). One of my ovaries was bound up in colon tissue. They were able to "save" my ovaries. I'm SOOOOO glad to be rid of all of that- periods, pms etc. I still ovulate, and get some mild (very mild) pms symptoms.
