68 year old. Married 49 yrs. 5 children, 16 grandchildren. I have Type 2 Diabetes, Insulin Dependent. Also, CHF, COPD, Peripheral Neuropathy, CAD, PKD, Cataracts, Glaucoma and Depression. Osteoarthritis in knees and back. I hurt all the time!

Close Diabetes Type 2
My diabetes is now Insulin dependent. That's what happens when you don't follow an exercise program and watch what you eat. It is very hard for me to exercise now, as I suffer from CHF and COPD also. Just trying to find support and help on staying on a 1200 cal. low salt, low fat, diabetic diet. Also need to find some way to get in some exercise even though I get out of breath so easily with the COPD.
Treatments
- Actos Not Working
- It worked fine for awhile and then it put me into Congestive Heart Failure.
- Byetta Not Working
- This was great as far as losing weight... but it made me so nauseous I had to stop taking it.
- Glyburide Working / Worked
- Taking now and doing well on it.
- Insulin (Regular and NPH) Working / Worked
- 100 units Lantus at bedtime 20 units Lantus in a.m. 7 units Novulin before meals
- Lantus Working / Worked
- Doing well on this. 100u at bedtime and 20u in a.m.
- Insulin (Regular and NPH) Working / Worked
- 7 units before meals
Close Arthritis
I have Osteoarthritis in both knees and my spine.

- Tylenol Working / Worked
- Has helped some, but not when pain gets real bad.
- Cortisone (Injection) Working / Worked
- This is working really well. Going on a month now.
- Oxycodone Working / Worked
- For bad pain
- Morphine Working / Worked
- For pain Percocet doesn't help.
Open Glaucoma
Diabetes induced Glaucoma.

- 2 drops to both eyes twice daily
- Xalatan Working / Worked
- 1 drop to rt. eye twice a day.
Open Coronary Heart Disease

- Aspirin Working / Worked
- 1 enteric coated 85mgm every morning.
- Zocor Working / Worked
- Stopped taking because of muscle weakness.
- Vytorin Not Working
- Dr. put me on this and I stopped taking it without telling him, as I was getting the weakness and loss of muscle stregth the same as with the Zocor.

Open Chronic Pain
Suffer from pain from Neuropathy, Osteoarthritis, Degenerative Disc Disease and Spinal Stenosis.

- take it when pain starts.
- Hydrocodone Not Working
- This stopped helping me.
- Lidoderm Not Working
- did not help
- Neurontin Working / Worked
- helps
- Oxycodone Somewhat Helpful
- doesn't help bad pain any longer.
- Morphine Working / Worked
- 15mgm helps when Percocet doesn't
- Hydrocodone Not Working
- Helped at first, but not any more.

Just trying to learn as much about Medicare as I can. I have been on it for 3 years now and still don't understand it! Of course, 2 of those years I had an excellent supplemental insurance, but now that my husband has retired, we can't afford it any longer. (900.00 a month!)Seems like everything you need, you make to much money for! ie... help around the house, etc...
