Thanks for the um, virtual *ahem* chocolate. It was yummy! I'm getting used to the therapist being a butt head. I've been going there for 2 years now, and at first they let me open up more about things, but now it seems as if he's forgetting things that he's written down in my file the last time I was there, and repeating questions all the time. For example, the last time I was there he asked me what I wanted to address between now and the next appointment, which is in about 3 weeks. I told him that I have no clue. I said I have a list of things to work on, so he should probably just throw a dart and let it land in a random place and we can address whatever the dart lands on. He then made small talk for about 5 or 10 minutes and then asked me what I wanted to work on all over again. I told him that I'll need time to think it over, but I'm really thinking about just going to find a new therapist to work with.

IT WAS ON APRIL 24, 1974 THAT GOD HAD GIVEN MY WIFE AND I A NEW AND HEALTHY BABY BOY WE NAMED JAMES. I WAS TOP OF THE HILL WITH JOY. GOD HAD ALREADY GIVEN US A PRECIOUS DAUGHTER.
I STAYED AT THE HOSPITAL UNTIL TIME FOR VISITORS TO GO. IT WAS AROUND 9 PM. AS I WAS DRIVING HOME I WAS SEARCHING ON THE RADIO FOR A STATION. WITH MY RIGHT HAND I WAS TURNING THE KNOB WITH MY RIGHT HAND TO LEFT AND NOT KNOWING MY LEFT HAND ON THE STEERING WHEEL WAS TURNING THE CAR TO THE LEFT. I IMMEDIATELY RECOGNIZED WHAT I WAS DOING AND NOTICED I HAD VEARED THE CAR TO THE LEFT. I WAS NOT EVEN CLOSE THE YELLOW LINE. BUT AS I TURNED THE CAR BACK TO THE CENTER OF MY LANE I NOTICED A CAR APPROACHING. THE CAR PASSED BY WITH NO PROBLEM. THEN A FEW MILES DOWN THE ROAD MY WHOLE BODY FELT LIKE IT WAS ON FIRE AND A THOUGHT CAME TO MY MIND. ARE YOU SURE YOU DID NOT CASUSE AN ACCIDENT WHEN YOUR CAR WAS SLOWLY TURNING TO THE YELLOW LINE. I KNEW LOGICALLY THAT NOTHING HAPPENED. BUT THE COMPULSION WAS SO GREAT THAT TO MAKE SURE ALL WAS WELL I TURNED MY CAR AROUND AND WENT BACK TO CHECK. WHEN I GOT THERE ALL WAS WELL. SO I HEADED HOME AGAIN. TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT I MUST HAVE TURNED AROUND A LEAST 5 TIMES TO CHECK. WHEN I GOT HOME ANOTHER THOUGHT CAME INTO MY MIND, WHAT IF THE CAR WAS OFF THE ROAD IN A DITCH. I GOY MY FLASHLIGHT AND WENT BACK. I PARKED THE CAR AND GOT OUT AND SEARCH THE DITCHES ON BOTH SIDES OF THE ROAD. OCD WAS BORN. I COULD NOT DRIVE FOR AWHILE. THEN IT WAS YEARS BEFORE I COULD DRIVE BY MYSELF. I STILL HAVE MINOR OCD AND CHECK MY REAR VIEW MIRROR VER OFTEN. BUT OUT OF THE OCD CAME SEVERE DEPESSION WITH GOT MUCH BETTER AND THEN WHEN I GOT INTO MY 50'S THE DEPRESSION BECAME SEVERE AGAIN AND IS SO TODAY. I TAKE FOUR MEDS FOR THE OCD AND DEPRESSION.

Close Tourette Syndrome & Tic Disorders
I'm a mom of 13 year old TS son. He also has certain OCDs, ADD (nonhyperactive type), and anxiety disorder. He is currently taking Clonidine and Adderall for his condition.
Treatments
- Clonidine Working / Worked
- Didn't before. Does now. Go figure.
- Dialectical Behavioral Therapy Working / Worked
- DBT: Dialectic Behavior Therapy. Haven't tried it yet, but my son's psychiatrist thinks it might be helpful when he's being negative.
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Somewhat Helpful
- He doesnt have a good grasp yet.
Close Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
I have moderate (fluctuating in severity) OCD. Undx. Both kids also have OCD. Getting worse, but we're working on it.
Treatments
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Working / Worked
- Working so far. Too early to tell, really.
- Zoloft Working / Worked
- Kate is trying. Don't know if it will work yet.
Open Depression
I have (undx) dysthymia or possibly cyclothymia. At least, I'm convinced of it. I'm trying to get DS to start a community specifically for it.

- Psychotherapy Not Working
- Of course, it's been a while since I spoke to a counselor on a continuing basis. May be something I want to try again.

Open Home Schooling
I home school both my children. Son 12 with Tourrette Syndrome, ADHD, OCD etc. and Daughter, 9, with OCD and general anxiety.
Open Anxiety Disorders in Children
Both my children have OCD. My son, 12 also has Tourette Syndrome, ADHD, and sleep disorder. My daughter 9 shows signs of an eating disorder and other OCD type symptons.
Treatments
Open Depression in Children
Son, who is 12 has Tourrette Syndrome, ADHD, OCD and sleep disorder is also suffering from depression. I think the meds he's on make it worse. Need all the advise I can get.

Open Personality Disorders
Type: Avoidant Personality DisorderI believe I have avoidant pd as well as OCPD. No dx, but I fit both of these categories very well.

- Does help to calm the mind and make things seem more reasonable.
