About Me
I am 51 years old and have had narcolepsy for the last 18 years. I have a very understanding husband, 2 grown children and 2 fantastically gorgeous grandchildren. I work as a receptionist in a busy hotel. I love my job, but find I am exhausted by the time I get home from work. I want and need more energy to keep up with my grandies.

Celebration
Thank you for your kind words on my journal. There are times I wish I had followed my dream to write short stories. But alas those days are gone. :-)
Thumbs Up
Yep another kiwi, I hear you about the support over here, it is not really up there is it lol. I was supposed to be a doco made here once as i have severe cataplexy but they had budget problems and never made it down here.
I'm unable to work at all as i have massive cataplexy attacks and get sick so often. But I try to keep busy and would much rather be working, I try every year to do something new to prove that i can work - so far N has proved me wrong.
I contacted the N support group when I first got diagnosed, they said they had trouble getting people interested and never really heard anything else. The guy who I talked to said most of the members were over 70 so I gave it a miss.
Now do tell me what your worst part of N is, by that i mean the funniest. Mine is hard to pick, the cataplexy attacks in shops is funny as with people running round going 'OMG should i call an ambulance, are you alright" when i can't do a damn thing to even answer them.
OR
the automatic response i have when asleep to answer the ringing phone and apparently make appointments that i never keep being that I was never awake, and yep it happens often lmao

Close Narcolepsy
Diagnosed with Narcolepsy 16 years ago. Diagnosis was very quick as only got any symtoms approx 6 months prior
Treatments
- Ritalin Somewhat Helpful
- Finding ritalin OK, but haven't tried anything else to compare....... Now taking Rubifen, the generic of ritalin. Doesn't work as good as the Ritalin, but cheaper inb NZ
