Journal Entry for October 3, 2006 Mood
Tuesday, October 3, 2006
Having a teenager son with autism is tough especially, when they don't understand that they are easily target to be bully and why girls are been mean to him.We have always taught our son to be respectful to others, but how can you make them understand that people sometimes will disrespect them.We tell our son to walk away and pay no attention to them, but as a parent you wish to be there to protect your child. My husband tells me, I can't shelter him for ever,he has to learn to fight his own battles.

Thanks for your hug! And I can't imagine what it must be like to raise a teenage son with autism. As if teenagers aren't enough! I'd love to read more journal entries from you... I'm sure your stories will inspire others!

Today,I'll meet with a school board member to express parents concerns about our Children education. I decided to have a voice when it comes to our children's education. Our children especially the ones with disability need parents willing to advocate for them.

my kids aren't autistic, and yet we all share the same issues. parents want to be overprotective...it's so, so hard to let go.
