    • Close MRSA

My MRSA was acquired during a db mastectomy in May 2006. Seeded in my port-a-cath, it became systemic, resulting in pheunonia, anemia, bone marrow issues, etc. I was treated with full Vancomycin which eliminated the bacteria, but experienced the horrible Red Man's Syndrone. Even tho cultures show the bacteria is no longer present, I'm still recovering from it's impacts, primarily now vascular and cardiac. The needed chemo cannot be done because of this.

      Treatments

      Vancomycin Working / Worked
      Red Man's Syndrone
    • Close Breast Cancer
      Stage: I (T1 N0)

In Apr 2006 I was diagnosed with BC. I had a db mastectomy, followed by 2 staph infections --- the 1st a cellulitis, the 2nd was a systemic MRSA. Surgical complications can happen and can be worse than the surgery itself and staph inf are becoming more frequent. Advice -- be very aware of even low grade fevers and any other signs of infection while recovering so that treatment can start ASAP.

      Treatments

      Mastectomy Too Soon to Tell
Surgery went smoothly, followed by 2 staph infections, including MRSA. No chemo due to complications.
      Effexor Working / Worked
Works great (75mg/day) to moderate my emotions. Now I can talk and thank those who do sweet things for me, without crying. I've never had a depression problem, but always cried at sweet situations. It was magnified with the BC, now I have the crying under control. I don't ever want to be without it!
    • Open Coronary Heart Disease

Not happy about joining this community ! :-) Had bypass on 1/31/2007. The blockages were discovered during my recovery from a db mastectomy and a systemic MRSA infection. Feel great now, trying to lower my chol, exercising alot, lots of fruits and veges -- no fried chicken!

      Treatments

      Lipitor Somewhat Helpful
Thought it was working, but my chol went from below 100 before to 257 after MRSA infection.
      Vytorin Too Soon to Tell
No negative side effects. Got my fingers crossed for the next lipid profile..........
