    • About Me

I am a semi-retured teacher. I still "sub" at a Charter School where I had worked full time. I lost the love of my life on April 10, 2007 quite suddenly. We were married for 46 years and faced many challenges together, but it is the sudden loss that is so devastating. I couldn't even say "goodbye."

I used to like to read and visit interesting places. But, I haven't even watched TV in the 3 mo's. since he's been gone. He used to like me to read to him in the evening (his eyesight was getting poor from diabetes). I don't have any interest now in reading. The books are still unread.

Dear Enid, congratulations on the new grandbaby. I am sure that you will have a wonderful Thanksgiving, just go with the flow and before you know it, it is all over. I hope there are many wonderful and enjoyable experiences for you and your family on Thanksgiving. I did not know that the Seventh Day Adventists followed a vegetarian diet, that is interesting and like your friend, we will probably be having a vegetarian turkey look alike. Just remember, I will be close to you in spirit. Love, Vivian

      From VivianM Friday

      Hello Dear Enid:
I am glad to hear from you. I am not going out of town for the holidays. My mother and I will be spending the holidays at home, quiet and peacefully. Sometimes those are the best type of holidays. In addition, we have both decided to eat primarily vegetarian food although we do eat eggs and drink milk. We have been eating this way for the past two months or so and we feel better physically. She and I have lost about 5 lbs and it has been good to be lighter. We are not doing it to loose weight, but the nature of the food and the lack of animal fat just lends itself to some loss of weight. I spoke to doctors about this and they were in agreement that it is a healthy way to eat, so I have been learning through vegetarian cooking websites how to prepare foods. Therefore, it is best for us to cook Holiday food at home. Also, Enid, sometimes I think that we put too much emphasis on the commercial side of the holidays and so much pressure on people about the holidays that it becomes a time of conflict among family members. That is certainly true for my family in Houston, a lot of emotionality during the holidays. It seems like as a society we have created a contradictory situation when it comes to many holidays. On the one hand we say that we should focus on good will toward others, but we place so much emphasis on material things that most families just feel very stressed during this time and high emotions only lead to conflict. I have come to the realization that this is not the way I want to live, so I am not putting much emphasis on celebrating the holidays and I have been more peaceful that way. What are your plans? Sending you love. Vivian

      Lost husband suddenly Apr. 10, 2007. A medical foul-up, I feel.

      Treatments

      Crying Working / Worked
After 3 mo's and oceans of tears, it does help to release the pressure, but it is so draining.
      Prayer Working / Worked
After a lot of introspection and looking into my own heart, I have arrived at my own "truth," and I have been able to start praying with more coviction and acceptance.
