I’m With You
I had an internal medicine specialist... when she retired, I was transferred to a general doctor... since then I have had several comas, memory and concentration loss, dizziness and other circulatory including metallic and numb tastes in my mouth, and am fighting to stay above a BS of 68... One doctor I spoke with went so far as to tell me 60 was normal! lol, yeah... not when it is after having eaten an entire cantaloupe!

Close Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar)
I've never been formally diagnosed, but I've lived with the symptoms of reactive hypoglycemia for more than 10 years. I've given up on doctors helping me - and have taken control of my lifestyle to include a diet that will help me better manage my symptoms.
Treatments
- Eat Small Meals Frequently Working / Worked
- I keep my blood sugar even with 6 small meals a day at regular intervals.
- Eating Healthier Foods Working / Worked
- I try to fill my diet with whole grain carbs, proteins and lean fats. I avoid all simple sugars, and I've eliminated most pre-packaged foods. I feel great (and I've lost a little weight too).
Close Depression
Type: Seasonal Affective DisorderThinking back now, I think I've suffered from SAD since high school. It has been severe enough in the past to require medication. Now I manage with Light Therapy.
Treatments
- Phototherapy Working / Worked
- I use a "Day Light" light box made by "Uplift Technologies." From mid-October to the end of February, I sit in front of it 30 minutes a day each morning while I eat breakfast. It is amazing how a simple thing like light can make a difference.
- Paxil Working / Worked
- It took it for about a year, and it did work. I didn't like feeling so even keep all the time though and decided to stop taking it.
