Good Morning! Lots of mixtures and contradictions going on here. Feeling confused, angry, sad and yet very grateful as well. Newly-diagnosed so I don't know what is going to happen next. My aneurism is 5 cm and it is suggested in text that surgery is recommended for 5.5 cm. Doesn't give me too much leeway here. My physician states that I'm lucky it was discovered but I'm confused cause she also stated that surgery usually isn't suggested till 7 cm is reached (size of aneurysm). Yet all literature I consult suggests 5.5 cm is the candidate size for surgery. So I'm confused to say the least and intend to consult with my physician today seeking some clarity. Would appreciate some input into this.

Good Morning and a great day to all! So glad I found this site. God Bless!

Good Morning to all DS folks, etc. Things are going much better since I have attempted to cultivate a spiritual connection with a higher power (whom I choose to recognize as God). I'm still a little shakey, a little feeling weird, but it's much better and feeling more hopeful. I'm on various new meds that seem to be helping my blood pressure stabilize for now. This stinks, I know . . . but we're all in this together one way or another. Thank God. Prayer is my solace along with friends and family. Gratitude a must!

Hello Montavanni,
Iam Rachel I saw your message in the aneurysm discussion board. It caught my interest.I am a widow for a year and a half now.My late husband had an Aorta aneurysm and had to have surgery. His aneurysm was 5cm and was located where the aorta divides off into the thigh arterys. He had his surgery and did fine.He crashed in CCU recovery, because of his COPD he had been a smoker for years and never quit.He was revived but had at least 5 strokes.
We lost him a month later and he was constantly comfused and didnt know me all the time.
My point is you will do fine.He was a 72 years old man ha dhighbloos pressure and was also a diabetic. He worked hard and smoked like a train, and did not take care of himself.
You on the other hand are much younger then he was stronger and wiser. So do not be afraid surgery today is very safe.If you do not have COPD you will be alright.
Just trust in god and he will take care of you.If you need to talk about your surgery feel welcome to.Iam here for you.

I found out that I had an abdominal aortic aneurysm when I had an MRI for back pain. The back pain was not due to the AAA, but it was fortunate that they found it. I just went to the surgeon a week ago and he said that we will monitor it every 6 mo. They do this when it approaches 5. I don't know what their parameters are for surgery. My BP is controlled now. The doctor said that they have to be more careful after 5 due to it can enlarge quickly. I am glad that they found yours. I hope and pray that you will have a good resolution to your aneurysm. God Bless You. Captain bj
