Like you I was had never heard of Trigeminal Neuralgia till this past September. It is a curse and blessing. The blessing is finally know what was causing my pain. The curse is the living in fear of doing simple things like brushing your teeth or just eating a meal. We never know what is going to trigger it. But, when it is triggered all we can do is sit, cry and take our meds. No talking, eating or going about our day in a normal fashion. Life as we have know it will never be quite the same and the simple things we do take on a whole new form. So, be encouraged my friend there are people on this site who know your pain and can help you to get through this. I've learned so much from this site but, most of all I now know I am not alone and I don't have to explain it to them because, they already know. Remember help is only a keystroke away.
hugs for you today my friend. so you have a good neurologist? this is a neurological condition and a neurolg will be able to prescribe meds for pain related to this condition. there are lots of things that will trigger the pain. i good book is striking back. all about facial pain. you can probably get it used on amazon.com. blessings for better days jady
Keep trying to just get through each day.
Thanks. My dad is getting really depressed with the macular degeneration. I need him to get involved in something so he realizes he is not the only one who has this problem. He is 76 and a Navy man, very difficult for him to accept this. Thanks for your help. Have a good holiday.
Thanks for your note. What do you write? I take it by your handle you work in radio? What format? Do you like any specific kind of music? I see from your page that you have something called TN, I am not familiar with that, what is it and what do you do for it? Sounds like you are enjoying your guide dog. Unfortunately, I can't experience that, since I am allergic to dogs. I have always wondered what the training was like and how they could help, though. I have known some people with them and they seem to be great helpers. Brett
I recently developed this condition. Right now I'm on doxopin, baclefen and going to chiropractor.
I have RP and am losing my sight. I still hhave some usable vision -- but not much. Since RP is hereditary there are several members of my family that also have it.
Gee... I didn't know there was an RP section here. I belong to the blindness group, though. I have autosominal RP. I was diagnosed whem I was very young. They knew to look for it because my grandpa and dad had it. Out of five of us siblings 3 of us have it. My daughter does too. That's probably the worst thing... I'm 47 and pretty close to totally blind now.
