Well after almost 5 yrs of countless Doctors  that looked at me like i was crazy and at this point i should just buy my own MRI machine, I was finally diagnosed with Fybromyalgia. A Ruematologist diagnosed me and just told me to excercise and gave me a huge bottle of muscle relaxers.

so i am doing my own research. i would appreciate any feed back, suggestions. on meds that  can help. is there something you can take during the day that doesn't make you all loopy like pain killers and muscle relaxers do. i have lost 5 jobs because i cant make it through the week w/ out caling in sick. now that i know whats wrong i realy truely need direction to figure out how to live w/it. im tired all the time i have chronic tmj my neck and back hurt always. is it normal  to have flue like symptoms? some days i wake up and i feel like i got hit by a truck! Does physical therapy help? which Doctor should be "THE DOCTOR" you go to for FM. well any advice is appreciated. sorry for the thousand questions Thanks

First of all what kind of job do you have?As for dr's it depends ,i'm not seeing anyone right now and probably wont untill they can tell us what causes fibro so can figure out how to treat it.
Yes you will hurt and feel tired all the time. You have to pace your physical activities and reduce all stress.I take 5-htp for sleep, magnesium and malic acid for the achy muscle feeling and muscle spasms and ribose for energy(I take muscle relaxers when i'm really bad).Stretching exercises are the best for fibro and water exercises if you can.For me going to a very good massage therapist helps me loosen up too .try to get hold of theses two books

I would suggest finding a different rheumo that is familiar with fibro. Sounds like your rheumo is not to up to date with fibro. My rheumo told me at the very first visit that no muscle relaxer or anti inflamitory helps with fibro pain alone. I take soma which is a muscle relaxer but i also take other meds along with it.

I understand your frustration with how long it took for a diagnosis, mine was almost 10 years of seeing tons of doctors and finally finding one that understands I am not crazy. Not sure what part of NY you are in but call around to find a doctor that specializes in Fibro. I just picked up the phone and called tons of places and spoke with the doctors and asked do you know what Fibro is, do you believe in the disease and do you know how to treat it? It's honestly amazing how many places refuse to believe in the disease. I hope you find the best person to help and remember we on the site are here for you anytime you want to talk. God Bless and welcome to Daily Strength.

I understand how you feel Doctors look at you as if you are crazy. some of them think you are looking for attention. They just do'nt get it. before having fbiro I used to see my doctor twice a year. Now I see him every week or so. Hopefully one day with advance technology the world will be able to see and understand our pain. We are all have been dismissed one way or another and it hurts This too shall pass. Take care
