DEAR OLD GRANDPA
He was a handsome sort of fellow
In a different kind of way
He was a different kind of person
As I've heard many say
He'd sit in that old rocking chair
Smoking on his pipe
I thought he'd take the rocker's shapeSitting there day and night
My grandpa was a smart man
Though he never went to school
He went by the Ten CommandmentsAnd followed the Golden Rule
You should have seen old Grandpa
At get-togethers on Friday nights
Next to him the best dancers there
Just couldn't get it right
Well, Grandpa's rocker is empty now
His pipe just lays there cold
You see, my dear dear grandpa
He just got too old
But Grandpa's memory still remains
That will never go
For my grandpa was a grand man
And I just loved him so
Each time I look in that corner
Where the pipe and rocker bide
It brings back such fond memoriesAnd a tear comes to my eye
I wish I had my grandpa
With that twinkle in his eye
I wish I had my grandpaSitting by my side
Someday I'll join Grandpa
And it will be like old times then
We'll sit and laugh, Grandpa and meAnd never part again
