I am a retired teacher . My parents and retarded sister (who also suffers from seizures) live in the other side of the duplex we built seven years ago. I have a great husband, two daughters, four little grandkids, and some pets. My oldest grandchild is Autistic. I love gardening and sewing but am not always able to enjoy them. • Close Fibromyalgia

Hi, I have had fibro for twenty years. I am participating in a research study for a new drug, Milnacipran. I have been symptom free for three months. I am in awe of how well I feel. I spend most of my time caring for my family.

      Treatments

      Aqua Therapy Working / Worked
Fabulous! My fantasy is to have my own therapy pool. Once I made the commitment and got through the first week or two of fatigue, on was on my way to better health.
      Cymbalta Working / Worked
      Very helpful.
    • Close Epilepsy & Seizures

Hi, I care for my sister, Kathy, who has seizures and is retarded. She is 52 and seizures have ruled her life since she was two. She has been doing better than ever for the last 10 years on a regime of Lamictal, Gabitril, and Topomax. Someday, I will be her guardian and already am very involved in her health care as my mom is 78 and can no longer do it alone.

      Treatments

      Ativan Working / Worked
Works to stop seizures once they start.
      Depakote Working / Worked
Used to work. No longer used.
      Dilantin Working / Worked
      Used to work.
      Lamictal Working / Worked
working in combination with other meds.
      Gabitril Working / Worked
Works in combination with other drugs.

I have taught using ABA and it has helped both my grandson and my sister.
      Behavior Management Working / Worked

      Early Intervention Working / Worked
My grandson started intervention at 20 months. It was extremely helpful.
      Facilitated Communication Working / Worked
I have seen it work, but I don't think it is the answer for most.
