I know you can get mighty tired of watching everyone's belly or butt! I had my surgery in July 05 and had my prosthesis by September. It is a process to get to the stage of walking again. But it is so wonderful to take those first steps. I know we don't remember learning to walk as a toddler, but do we ever remember those first steps as an adult! The stages you have to go through to be able to walk on your own are going to seem tedious and you'll want to do more time than the prosthesis guys say but follow their instructions. The wound healing; the shrink sock; the first fitting of the prosthesis. I know I was ready for the prosthesis but when I first seen it, I was shocked and pulled back but I sat up straight and leaned forward to learn more about it. Take care and welcome to DS. It is a fantastic site for support and for yourself.
