Thanks! I so needed to be reminded of that today. It just breaks my heart to see what he has to endure and unfortunately because I can't be at school, I know I don't see the half of it. He tells me he got into trouble before anyone else notifies me if they notify me. Sometimes he knows why or has a hunch but then other times he is very upset because he gets in trouble for personal space issues and knows he didn't do it on purpose but still gets in trouble. Somedays I just want to take him and go hide out in a cabin up in the mountains just to get away from it all. I know that is withdrawing and not really such a good idea. I have to hang in there for him. I have to be strong and courageous and be an advocate for him. But when no one else is around I just want to crumble because it hurts to see people not understand the way I do. I feel bad that this is the world you guys have to deal with. It's not fair or right that society expects people to conform to the "norm". I just want to see him happy and satisfied with who he is. I really just want the best for my child as any other parent should. Darin can read. But I understand what you mean. I do alot of extra work to get him up to par because they don't have or take the time to do it in school. He is in learning support for his writing of essays and such but they don't push him or ask him the thought provoking questions he needs to be asked so he can tap into that center or information he has in his brain. Sometimes there a just a few more doors that have to be opened. Then he flourishes. I'll write more later. I have to go to work. It's so good to get back in touch with you. I'd love to hear more about what you are doing in your church. That is kinda one of our safe havens too. He doesn't connect with the kids too much but he knows then. He loves to help serve coffee and things like that. It's a good place for him to be social and practice his skills. Everyone says how polite he is. Have a great day Rod! My name is Rod and I am a 45 yr old Adult with ASD,ocd,irlen syndrome,post concussion syndrome, post traumatic stress disorder & a Dad of 2 ASD boys.I am a Learning and behavour consultant to Education & health professionals for ASD & associated disorders and I am also a specialist teacher aide and design resources and so on. I am also writing a book on ASD children in mainstream schools.
Open Breakups & Divorce
In what I thought was a happy marriage with happy children , my wife ran off with an ex boy friend last year. After this she went really nasty. She has ruined my friendships and has caused devision in my own family. This is because my step daughter is going out with my first cousin which means there is a direct loop from My ex wifes family to mine. Recently she decided she didn't want our two sons I am now - full custodian of them. I don't even fully understand why we broke up.She is a teacher.

- Mainly with my Parents but I have no friends currently as they have all backed away.

- 1 year now but still very tough at times. I am experiencing nightmares which I do when I'm stressed. These nightmares are tramatic events I saw as a Fireman.
