Well, the move is done, and I think I had more meltdowns over it than Zach did!! He has started pre-school full time. The next hurdle is switching the IEP as we changed school districts. I'm hoping it will be an easy transition. We're in the same county, same area (6 miles away), just now live in the next school district over.
It's an autism based school ranging in age from pre-school through age 13. My Zach is the "baby" in the school as he's the youngest student-he'll be 3 in November. Each class has 6 students with 1 teacher and 4 aides. The program is an ABA curriculum with music, gym, speech & OT included and he also has 5 hours of ABA, 1 speech and 2 sensory gym outside of school.
I've connected with a group of mothers who have children there and have joined a support group and signed up fot the Long Island Autism Speaks Walk as part of his school's team. It's so comforting to know people in this area who are also living with autism, and I had hoped that would happen once Zach was in school full time.
I'll write again later. Wish me luck on the IEP transfer. I'm nervous.

Hi Tracey, I'm so glad that you found a support group. Our school district supplies a weekly session and I have met my closest friend at the support group. It really helps to have people to go out for coffee with and share stories most importantly to not feel alone. I am doing the autism speaks walk next Sunday. I have been doing the walk for 3 years now. You and Zach will love it and have so much fun. They have so many activities for the kids. Best of all you are amongst friends. I let Sean do all the stimming he wants to do at the event, its a free for all!!! Have a great time. Good luck with the IEP and the transition sounds like a great school. Good luck and thinking of you. Denise
