Specialist has said that we need more discussion time and Creator only knows that I can talk and spout off better than some and certainly as well as most LOL so here goes:
I am very thankful for the VAMC in Dallas. I have been going to the facility for about 11 years, not really comfortable with the thought that I am taking away time with docs that could be better used to treat the Vets I consider more worthy and in need. As would luck would have it, the Dallas VAMC is the Premier Center for Womens Health. They are pretty much "self-contained" and the Director was one of the founding doctors for the program.
Anyway.
In the last year or so, I have noticed a change in the attention, treatment, allotment of time and smiles at the hospital. Suddenly, the staff has become more concerned with the patients and certainly less concerned with the job. They seem to have the Vet's well-being in the front of thier minds. Service officers are available at all times---if they are at lunch they are called back to see the Vet. And they really ARE helping sort out situations and answer questions.
While I read through the Veterans board and the Military sub-groups on DS I feel that maybe I am the only one. AM I?

I NOTICED THAT THE DOCTORS ARE STARTING TO TAKE ALITTLE MORE TIME WITH THE VETS HERE. MY DOC TELLS ME A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO THAT HE SHOULD HAVE STARTED ME ON A MED. A YEAR AGO. THANKS FOR POSTING NANA

I guess you notice that most vets get treated like shit. Im sorry but that's the facts of life. Maybe they treat you well because you're a woman. I for one totally disagree with your topics and comments supporting the VA and am speaking out about it. . Get a sex change and go back to the VA and then see if you will support them. afterwards

NANA i APOLIGIZE FOR THAT LAST REMARK. THIS IS NOT VETS VENT AND I THINK THAT WOULD BE A BETTER FORUM FOR THAT.

Thanks for the apology, specialists, but the truth is that gunnery is more right than even I would like to admit to. Sometimes vets become very bitter and their hardline attitudes reflect in the way they relate to positive input, be it verbally or in the written word.
Venting is the one thing that we, in the medical profession, try to encourage, though it really does need to be in a less aggressive manner.
Gunnery, we both know that we stand on opposite sides of the fence on most issues and there is nothing wrong with that. But I definitely take offense to your statement that I need a sex change in order to observe how the "men" are treated at VA Medical Centers. I will publicly announce that we have had words, though not about this particular issue and I am fine with that, BUT, I will brook NO insult from you, public or private.
End of discussion.
Thanks again, specialists. You are a true gentleman.

I've noticed the same changes at our VA here in Tucson too. The service is much better than it was 5 years ago, they respond to situations quicker and you don't feel like a number anymore.

my husband passed away in va hosp in ks a year and a half ago,,,he was treated very well, they took good care of him, and of us (his family) while we were there for a week at his bedside,, I have no complaints at all of the va,, he was going there every month and sometimes more often for a couple years, most of the time it was good,, but you have bad days there as well a bad days at a regular hospital,,, and I agree five years or so ago it was pretty bad for a while,,, but male or female it has improved,,,
