Close HIV
I was diagnosed in 2001 with VL of 500,000 and t-cell 20. The odds where against me as at the time I was in the hospital with PCP and a very serious yeast infection that pervaded my entire being. I was wasting away and had lost 5% of my muscle mass. Today I am at 830/Undetectable
Treatments
- Bactrim DS Working / Worked
- I took Bactrim as a preventative for several years after my bought with PCP. It worked great, no side effects
- Combivir Working / Worked
- I have been taking Combivir with good results since I was first diagnosed.
- Prayer Working / Worked
- If is was not for prayer I would not be alive today.
- Sustiva Working / Worked
- My first regimen. Worked beautifully but I tired of the loopy feeling, dizziness and joint pain.
- Talking Working / Worked
- Talking about a problem or painful issue always helps to make it seem not so bad.
- Viramune Working / Worked
- My current med, it is working wonderfully. Not as quickly as the Sustiva, but it is working!
Close Arthritis
I have RA. Have had pain my whole life from it, but was not diagnosed by a Doctor until 2001.
Treatments
- Anti-Inflammatory Diet Somewhat Helpful
- I have found that cutting out soda pop had made a difference in swelling and joint pain
- Naproxen Working / Worked
- I take it as needed for pain. Some days are better than others.
Open Depression
Type: Clinical (Major) DepressionI have been battling depression my entire life. Have been on meds for it since 2001
Treatments
- Wellbutrin Working / Worked
- This is a fantastic med for me. Once we got the dosage right it works great!! And it has NO sexual side effects. YAY!
Open Anxiety
I have GAD given to me by my Mother along with her eyes. Some genetic things are not as fun as others. My Dr thinks that my anxiety is more prominent when I become more depressed. I think it is the other way around, either way the med he has me on is working for both.
Treatments
- Breathwork Somewhat Helpful
- DON'T FORGET TO BREATHE!!!
- Xanax Somewhat Helpful
- This med puts me to sleep so I only take it at night when I am having problems falling asleep.
- Wellbutrin Working / Worked
- This med works very well at lowering my anxiety and depression levels.
Open Stroke
On Oct 25 my Husband called me from his office speaking gibberish, alarmed I called 911. When they arrived he was ok, a three day hospital stay followed bec of the TIA. 2 hours after being released he was back speaking gibberish again and this time was mini stroke. He has Aphasia and is having to relearn words, reading and writing. This is so very very hard for both of us. He cannot work, and I am quickly falling behind in school.
Treatments
- Aspirin Working / Worked
- He is taking Aspirin along with Plavix. Coumadin may be in the future.
Open Caregivers
My husband suffered a minor stroke in Oct 2007 that left him with aphasia. I have been helping him to relearn how to read, write, speak, count... it has been very hard emotionally, and physically draining. I am so tired
