    • About Me

Dance teacher and mom of two boys. My 8yr. old has asthma and my 9mo. old has anaphylaxis to dairy and eggs, with additional allergies to peanuts, tree nuts and soy. Still doing allergy testing, so we don't have a full list yet. My youngest also has eczema and GER, which is a painful acid reflex that limited us from laying him flat for the early months. It is somewhat managed now, but he still spits up (like a newborn would) after almost every nursing.

      From JaneD October 30, 2008

Really empathise: I just got all three childhood diseases: one did at my age: but I have yearly influenza injection & must sit in waiting room of Clinic after I have had it for 1 hour. So far no trouble - if I did not have it, I'd be in serious strife if I got 'flu, and then pneumonia - as am allergic to all commonly used antibiotics (most are artificial molds). So it's a trade-off all the time (I take a good book whenever I go to Surgery.) Not much fun for kids - maybe you could trot along in the middle of a Monopoly game or some such, Best wishes, janeD.

Hi, just checking in. I hope you are doing well. What kind of dance do you teach? I have been a bellydancer for 11 years. I also like salsa and swing dancing.

I am a mom to a 9mo. old and an eight yr. old, both boys...both wonderful! My youngest has anaphylaxis to dairy & eggs, w/additional allergies to all nuts and soy. He also has eczema and GER. My oldest has asthma and has been hospitalized several times for pneumonia. I'm a f/t dance teacher to preschool and school-age children.

    • Open Parenting Big Kids (5-8)

I am a married, 30-something mom in SoCal. I have two sons; an 8yr old and a 9mo old. My 8yr old will be entering 3rd grade this coming fall. I'm a member of two other communities on DS (Food allergies and Parenting 0-1. I'm hoping to share stories, get advice and maybe get help with some of the issues I'm having difficulty coping with as a parent.

      Treatments

I have a background as a nanny, a preschool teacher and a dance teacher. When I say "education" I draw not only on my edu.but on my exp. wking w/children.
    • Open GERD & Heartburn

My little boy was diagnosed with GERD when he was only 2months old. He is now almost 11months, and the medication he was prescribed is no longer working. He throws up daily, cries out in pain when he is laying flat and has a lot of difficulty nursing. The worst is the constant hiccups & nasal congestion + the insane amount of drooling. We are now waiting on a referral to a pediatric gastroenterologist and whatever testing comes along with that.

      Treatments

      Prilosec Working / Worked
Currently trying Omeprazole but it's still too soon to tell. So far, we have mild improvement.
      Zantac Somewhat Helpful
This worked for the first 6months but now it is no longer strong enough.
    • Open Parenting Toddlers (1-3)

I have a baby boy who just turned 1y.o. on 9-29. He has severe food allergies, and I spend a lot of time online doing research, in the d.s. food allergy forum and/or going back and forth to doctors for this and various other health issues. I love my little guy and feel so bad for him for what he goes through on a daily basis. I also have an 8y.o. boy who will be turning 9 on Christmas Eve. He's an excellent student, a good friend, a wonderful artist and he is extremely wise for his yrs.
