About Me
I am a single lady with no children. I have recently recovered from 2 surgeries for Crohns and I am eager to get back out in the working world at least on a part-time basis to start and I would also like to get back to volunteering which I had to give up for health reasons. I love to read, cook, decorate and I love the beach day or night. I am pretty easy to get along with and have a great sense of humour, if I can help anybody and make some friends in the process, it would be a bonus.

Close Crohn's Disease & Ulcerative Colitis
Well I got sick when I was 21, it took four years to diagnose Crohns and many drug therapies and surgeries later I had to have an ostomy, it is permanent and has made my life 100% better. I did not have any surgery for 9 years and then last year I ended up in emerg with a blockage and two hernias, so two surgeries later and I am just getting back on my feet now.
Treatments
- Asacol Working / Worked
- I took this for over 5 years, kept me in remission with no terrible side effects.
- Avoid Certain Foods / Chemicals Working / Worked
- Believe it or not chocolate cake is the only thing I cannot eat and I try not to eat too many peanuts. Add blueberries to the list now.
- Azathioprine Working / Worked
- I have been on Imuran for 15 years, it works for me and the docs say it is preventative so they will not take me off of it, it does not bother me at all.
- Entocort Working / Worked
- I took this for 4 years and it seemed to work for me, less side effects than prednisone.
- Flagyl Working / Worked
- It works but I will never take it again, the taste it leaves in your mouth is unbearable, nothing takes it away, it feels like you are sucking on a tin can.
- Lomotil Working / Worked
- This has saved my sanity, it is for chronic diarrea when imodium does not work, this is a narcotic and you need a prescription for it.
- Prednisone Working / Worked
- Well this wonder drug always works for me, I don't like the side effects but it does work, hopefully I don't have to go back on it anytime soon.
- Surgery Working / Worked
- Too many to count, but I am still here so they all worked, just have to accept that it is always going to be a possibility and I am grateful that I have a great team of Doctors and live in Canada.
