I went to the doc's office again, like I do each month. I saw the APRN and he decided to play "Lets see what happens when we take you off of this med?" I said Okay. They are taking me off of Phenobarbital slowly. I should be able to stop in a week. We are even changing my main, breakthrough medication from Dilaudid to Oxycodone. I haven't been on hear too much and didn't let my friends know of my near trip to the ER on Sunday. It was almost bad enough for me to call for an ambulance. I was borderline afraid of over medicating myself by taking 3 dilaudid 8 mg tablets in 1 1/2 hours ...... So we switched breakthrough pain meds. I have a choice of 2 - 4 weeks of "vacationing" from the dilaudid. For now, I know what I need to do and that is to not take too much of the oxycodone. Makes it tough with the weather change overnight.

Have you tried Baclofen? Helps me at night. Yes, be careful with the Oxy. I see my pain doc next tues, I need to go up on my morphine and there will be no vacationing for me!

Kaz I truly wish I could take some of your pain...I'd keep it myself so you could have some relief! God bless you!
