"Worker's Comp sucks! They can do what they want whenever they want."
4:15pm, November 6, 2009

I went to the docs on Friday. Talked about how I was doing with the APRN for the last month. Things seem to be getting worse on the right side of my head and the cluster type pains are increasing. The migraines have about stopped but I was given a major increase in pain meds, Dilaudid, from 150 to 210 per month. I used just about each one up. I did research on Dilaudid and there really is no "set" amount to give a person. It does have to be gradually increased.

Also, I asked to go for another MRI but forgot to ask for bloodwork related to Depakote. It has been a while. You need to go a minimum of 2 times a year to monitor the " toxicity " level of the medicine. There is a fine line and I have been below it.

Another development is that I was asked to go for another Occipital Nerve Stimulator trial. This one is from a different company, Boston Scientific. The APRN and the nurse in charge of the Stim Trials said it has a 50% better record so far and works better for " sensitive " people like me. My pain changes at the drop of a hat. It has happened once in the doctors office and even once in Workers Comp Court. I said lets try it. I just need to wait for the insurance company to approve it. The last one took 1/2 a year. That is all for now. I feel like grap, agai today. Oh well.

When they get that bad any option is better then to have to live with the pain! I hope your insurance is faster about approving this. Be careful about steadily increasing the meds. I recently had a friend on morphine. They temporarily took her off and when she got to resume taking it, she immediately went back to her old dose and died hours after. Be careful...and get that liver panel done ASAP!
