Close Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML)
Stage: M2My 16 year old son Doug was diagnossed with AML in June of 2007. I am trying to become as educated as I can about this illness.
Treatments
- Chemotherapy Working / Worked
- So far the chemo is doing what the doctors had hoped for in killing the cancer cells, but there are quite a few side effects both expected and unpredictable.
- Cytarabine Working / Worked
- Can cause some intense nausea. Emend seems to be a great anti-nausea! In combination with Atavan, Phenagren, & Vistrol.
- Neupogen Somewhat Helpful
- It does get the bone marrow to recover faster but it can keep you feeling horrible. Mixed feelings about using this one.
- Novantrone Too Soon to Tell
- At least we didn't see worse side effects than before, so far anyway.
