For anyone who was interested, just wanted to let you know how it was going trying to add a second dog to the family!  He is such a sweetie, he is a purebred mini australian shepherd, a rare thing for a shelter to have, he's smart, and funny, and playful - but, I don't think our girl is taking to him at all.  We're going to give it a little more time, but she does not seem very happy.  We had one foster dog that she absolutely loved, it was like they bonded immediately, but he was not up for adoption and he was too much dog for us to handle anyway - so far she hasn't really taken to any other dogs, though I hear dogs are pack animals and need another dog around.  Truthfully, this whole idea was for her anyway.  I so want her to be happy, and I worry she gets lonely.  For a while, it wasn't even a consideration because of the fact that our girl was too insecure, but after she bonded with the one dog, we thought it was a possibility.  We shall see.   It took a LOT of convincing to let my husband even try this, and if does not work I don't know if he will try again, though I can say he really enjoys the new dog.  He's very much a dog lover, just very cautious about any changes to the family or our routine.

All four of us are off to the nursing home this morning for their animal visitation program, we'll be back later.
