I haven't written in a while. I started doxil yesterday afternoon. I was on PARP Inhibitor trial at Dana Farber Cancer Institute for two months. I found out from CAT Scan and CA 125 which is up to 197. CAT Scan showed 2 spots on outer liver, tumor a little bigger on the outer colon and some nodes on lower left lobe of lung and nodes around peritoneum. I am back in Florida doing doxil. They had to take me off the trial drug since, unfortunately it did not work for me. I was one of two out of 64 women that it did not work for. It has been so upsetting. I just hope the doxil works for me. This will be my 5th time on treatment since November 2004. They started me on 20 mg of doxil every two weeks instead of 40 mg once a month. So far I feel ok. I am having a little trouble with constipation. I'm sure you all know what that's like. Chemo does that I guess. During the hour of doxil I had my feet and hands on ice. It was cold! I just hope I get no side effects. Thank you all for the good wishes and hugs. I am so scared. I'm only 42 and I don't want this disease to take my life so I'm going to keep fighting as long as I can. I'm just so scared. I have wonderful family and friends and my husband is just been by side and we're going through this together.
Is there anyone that has had doxil? Any info would be greatly appreciated even if it's not good. Signing out for now. Hugs to all.

It is so unfair and so scary how this disease keeps returning. This time I just know you are going to beat it. I have never had Doxil. Why the hands and feet in ice? Maybe this Doxil is the answer.

one of the side effects from doxil is hand/foot syndrome (itching burning redness of hands and feet).
Also mouth sores. I have none yet and hopefully I won't get any of these side effects.

I just looked up Doxil on the internet. It seems it is given to people with reoccurances because your body gets resistant to the platinum based drugs such as cisplatin and carobplatin. So you are on the right track. Lots of love, hugs and prayers for you.

There is no fear.. but fear itself.. I have found all the way through this damned cancer stuff that my imagination is far more scary than what actually happens.. Don't follow gloomy thoughts.. pull yourself away to brighter ideas.. things to lift you up. The more you can do that the easier it gets.. Love and best wishes xxxxxx

I have just been put on doxil after the Gemzar/Carbo wasn't working for me. I am intrested on how it is working for you. My CT scan showed an increase of growth and my CA125 is up to 88 so that indicated that the chemo drugs I was on wasn't working. I get an EKG on Monday to make sure my heart is up for it. I am only 39 myself and am going to continue to fight as well.
