My Lord, My God, My Friend
I am a traveler in a sinful land,
On a long and perilous journey.
I am surrounded Satan’s band,
He lays evil snares to entrap me.
The winds of temptation blow
Fierce and strong all about me.
But I’m protected wherever I go
Lead by God’s wondrous mercy.
The Lord God watches over me,
on my journey is hard and long.
His word is my light so I can see
What is right and what is wrong.
He makes steady and sure my feet,
On this narrow rocky path I trod.
He provides good food for me to eat,
For He is a true and loving God.
If I become weak unable to stand,
In prayer I call out His holy name.
He lifts me up by nail scared hand,
so by His side I will always remain.
He is there through the pouring rain,
My shelter from the storms of life.
He is there in my times of great pain,
My comfort in my struggles and strife.
When at last my body can find rest,
My eyes will behold my journeys end.
I shall walk with the perfect and best,
The one I call my Lord, my God, my friend.
