Congrats
congrats on the new baby!!!
and yes... my little one is a chatter box. LOL
Prayer
Here is a prayer that your surgery goes well. I will keep you in my thoughts, my friend. My family is good. My littlest is still quite the little smarty pants and is exceling in school but is quite naughty. My oldest still has no interest in school and is barely passing but is such a nice kid. My hubby is doing good. Our relationship has improved much lately. I think we are both just trying to be a bit more understanding and considerate.
Thanks for your support as always. Best of luck tomorrow. Hugs. Lora

Close Fibromyalgia
Hi all. I was diagnosed with FM in 1991 but had it for years before that. I had to go to part time employment back in 2000 because I just couldn't do it anymore. Even at that I'm wondering how much longer I can keep going. On the bright side, I have a kind and understanding husband - he suffers from chronic pain from a back injury - so he knows what living with pain is like.
Treatments
- Acupuncture Somewhat Helpful
- Doesn't take the pain away but helps with the depression
- Aqua Therapy Working / Worked
- Loved it, but now I do not live close to a warm water pool...
- Biofreeze Working / Worked
- I use this for muscular aches at night. Its quite smelly but the menthol scent is calming to me too.
- Cymbalta Not Working
- Awful side effects going on, going off and in between
- Effexor Not Working
- Side effects too great
- Elavil Not Working
- Lyrica Not Working
- Awful side effects - no change in pain
- Methadone Working / Worked
- Makes a huge difference for me. I try to stay at or below 20 mg more than that the side effects kick in
- Physical Therapy Working / Worked
- I found I wasnt breathing correctly wasnt coming from my diaphram caused all the muscles in my chest neck upper arms to work overtime. My O2 level was way down. Once they worked with me on my breathing both with manual therapy and giving me exercizes I feel much better.
- Physical Exercise Working / Worked
- Since going for the physical therapy Ive been going to a gym and working out 34 days per week. Between the two my pain levels have improved dramatically from 8 down to 4 most days. Yes!
Open Depression
Type: Clinical (Major) DepressionI have chronic pain from fibromyalgia and deal with depression as a result. I have had no luck with the many different medications I've tried for depression. Currently, I'm taking a low dose of Wellbutrin.
Treatments
- Acupuncture Working / Worked
- Seems to help - releases endorphins
- Celexa Not Working
- side effects too great
- Desipramine Not Working
- side effects too great
- Doxepin Not Working
- side effects too great
- Effexor Not Working
- side effects too great
- Elavil Working / Worked
- least amount of side effects, considering going back to this one
- Serzone Not Working
- side effects too great
- Wellbutrin Somewhat Helpful
- I can't get up to the therapeutic dose because of the side effects (for me, bad headaches, facial pain) but at least takes the edge off the depression
Open Gambling Addiction & Recovery
I was a casino gambler. Lost lots (of course). Ran out of money (truly). Sought help via Gamblers Anonymous. Have been gambling free for more than 12 years now.
Treatments
- Gamblers Anonymous Working / Worked
- The program works if you work it.
Open Chronic Pain
I was diagnosed with fibro in 1991. I seem to be getting progressively worse - pain wise. Every day I live with pain. It can get overwhelming at times...
Treatments
- Acupressure Working / Worked
- Seems to help with the depression
- Cymbalta Not Working
- side effects
- Flexeril Working / Worked
- only take this one occasionally
- Heat Working / Worked
- Hydrocodone Working / Worked
- Lidoderm Not Working
- didn't really notice a difference and I hurt in too many places to make these worthwhile
- Lyrica Not Working
- side effects
- Methadone Working / Worked
- Worked for a few years but then stopped working - I will try going back on it in the future because its a longer lasting form of pain control
- Neurontin Not Working
- Oxycodone Working / Worked
- Physical Therapy Working / Worked
- It helps a bit but I can't spend all my time going to appointments
- TENS Working / Worked
- I think these work well for spasm type pain
Open Hypothyroidism
I was finally dx hypothyroid in 2003. After going on synthroid, my levels quickly responded to within the normal range. My hip pain decreased greatly. I lost 30 lbs without trying - just because I finally had enough energy to move!
Treatments
- Synthroid Working / Worked
- Seems to work well.
Open Dizziness & Vertigo
Always thought my dizzyness was an inner ear infection - it would come and go. But this time, it seems to be sticking around alot longer. I'm scheduled for an MRI next week but from my reading I think they are going to say bppv. We'll see if I'm right. :)
Open Family & Friends of Cancer Patients
I have a dear friend who has breast cancer - she's gone through the chemo - now its wait and see. My mother died of lung cancer in 1996. I miss her.
Open Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
Treatments
- Cymbalta Not Working
- Side effects too bad to continue
- Pain Management Clinic Not Working
- I am happy with the pain clinic as far as managing my pain, but they cannot seem to help the fatigue.
- Physical Exercise Somewhat Helpful
- I have to push myself to do this.
Open Sleep Apnea
I was dx in 2002 with mild sleep apnea. They also said I had "big time alpha wave intrusion" - anyone else with this? I have fibro and they said that explained it.
Treatments
- CPAP Too Soon to Tell
- I don't think I gave it a good chance. I was newly married and didn't think I looked too romantic with that thing on! Now I'm thinking I should try it again.
Open Shingles
I had a shingles outbreak almost two years ago. Now I'm getting shingles-like pain in that general area. I'd like to know if others have experienced this and if so, how they deal with it.
Treatments
- Valtrex Working / Worked
- I just took this when I had a shingles outbreak. It seemed to work.
