Affirmation for July 2, 2009: Abraham Lincoln Mood
Thursday, July 2, 2009 | A Positive story

Most folks are about as happy as they make up their minds to be.

~Abraham Lincoln  16th president of US (1809 - 1865)

I've decided to have a happy day. I hope you will too!

Doug

Abraham was a man before his time. How could he have possibly known that which is as true today as back then? I disagree with him though when he says most folks, it is indeed ALL folks, without exception.

It's a weird day for the Hamster, I have felt something ominous has had me feeling uncomfortable all day.
I went out for some sun today, knowing I'll be going to the ocean in a few weeks. I felt very alone. I came home and responded to a post on DS, then I was listening to some music. I realized that 20 years ago today, I met my husband. He was a Drug Addict and still a loving person. He died of his addictions, and for the last 13 years, I've been alone. A moment of dark thought fell upon me, and then I realized just how far my life has come. That I now have a choice to make myself happy. Maybe I should be depressed, or have deep sadness, but I won't. I'll take responsibility for my life One Day At A Time. I'll go out and watch some Fireworks tonight, and be a single person amongst thousands. I do it for myself, and to make me happy, not for melancholy torsion of the past. I do it for the good side of life, the side that even though "he" was an addict, he was a loving human being.
The side that Daily Strength.org helps each of us everyday in our recovery.
    Thanks, Doug.
    Have a great Independence Day!
